Wait a second - there's a limitation on it? That's not right. I *know* there's a completely free version of VCDEasy out there that doesn't have those limitations, but it's harder and harder to find ever since the guy decided he was going to sell a commercial product. Hmmm... according to my old PC, I was using version 1.1.5.2, which I believe was the last completely freeware version available. Are you using that, or maybe a demo version of his new one? Not that it'll make a difference with the sound problem, but it should at least let you stick more files on it - I know I've gotten somewhere close to 500MB of just our AMVs onto the VCDs I made with it.
