(no subject)

I just recently decided to replace the third DVD in my Uninhabited Planet Survive set (it's been missing for a while, and I finally gave up on trying to find it), and figured since I was buying cheap DVDs, I might as well pick up some other stuff.

I've already decided to go for Ouran High School Host Club (who knows how long I'll be able to get fansubbed DVDs of it), and was kind of idly poking around through other stuff, when I came across a title someone on my friends list mentioned some time ago... It caught my attention, so I figured I'd download an episode (not that I actually have the time to watch it, but I'm procrastinating anyway) and see if it's worth spending $7.25 per DVD on (with 13 episodes per DVD).

So, I'm about to watch the first episode of Honey and Clover, and figured I'd make a post asking for opinions. If anyone's seen it, would you like to leave me a comment with a yay or nay vote for the purchase? Maybe even a little something about what's good or bad about the series? It'd be nice to hear something about it.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what to buy (only unlicensed anime is available), by all means, give me a recommendation! I'd love to hear about it.

XXXHolic is technically unlicensed, in that nobody has announced having the license for it yet, but Funimation sent out C&D letters to fansubbers last month and is suspected to have the license. But if you can get ahold of it, I recommend it; all the more if you've read some of the manga, though it's not necessary.

Other than that, hmm... have you watched Gundam X? It's among the few older Gundam titles that hasn't been put out on dvd yet by Bandai. I suspect they have the license, but there's been no announcement of dvds, and I've been bugging their reps about the series during anime cons for the past five years. ~_~ As far as the series goes, it's another alternate universe (ala Gundam Wing and G Gundam), and shares many similarities to Wing in the personalities of the characters. It's pretty easy to find fansubs to download, so you should be able to get it bootlegged or fansub-created dvds.

Honey and Clover is on my top-five absolute favorite anime list. o: I give that show major yays. ♥

Honey and Clover is a great anime - sweet, realistic, with likable characters. Highly recommended!

I'm currently watching Nana and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and am enjoying both. And I recently finished Rozen Maiden and dug that one, too. Nana's a typical shoujo anime in that it deals with making friends and falling in and out of love, but its setting makes it stand out from the rest, and so far the story is interesting and complicated. Meloncholy is totally cracktactular. Won't even bother trying to explain that one. XD And Rozen is about a boy who's forced to adopt these living dolls who make his life miserable (at first!). Weird, but good.
