A Feminist Critique of Animation is a very interesting site for anyone who is interested in feminism, animation, or both. She takes a look at anime, Disney, and traditional roles in animation that really can be applied to any form of media. I don't agree with everything she says here (such the generalizations she makes about yaoi and the implication that it is always a healthy outlet for female sexuality), but she definitely creates some interesting discussion.

I saw a critical documentary about Disney on Youtube a month or so ago. It pointed out that the Beast's attitude towards Belle would have been perceived as flat-out abusive if he had been a real man, and that the moral of this (he'll be nice to you if you just love him!) gets really creepy from that POV. Our friend on this webpage apparently missed this part of the romantic dynamic, which makes me suspect that she is a tad on the shallow side. But I agree with you - the discussion she brings up is interesting.
