I looooove Weiss Kreuz!!!!

Just felt like saying that.

Last night I watched the first episode again. I don't know why I like that episode so much. It's a goofy one. Actually, Weiss is kind of a goofy show. But if you can get past the plot holes, the impossible stunts, and the questionable animation... the characters are awesome!

Ken: The soccer jock / boy-next-door. He even wears goggles! But his have a purpose - to protect his eyes when driving his motorcycle. The orange shirt hanging around his waist on the other hand... Anyway, I was prepared for Daisuke or Taichi flashbacks, but I didn't get them. Ken's friendly and approachable, but he has a definite introspective side and this quiet, tortured way of speaking when he's in turmoil.

Omi: The computer hacker / big-eyed innocent. Since he's so happy all the time, he naturally has a very traumatic past that he has blocked from his memory and which will start coming back to haunt him at the worst possible times. Omi amazes me simply with how much he can bounce back from. He obviously takes his job seriously. He's the first member of Weiss, and I think their leader as well. Who woulda thunk it?

Youji: The playboy. You wouldn't think by watching him in action that he's really a one-woman man, would you? Youji's generally laid-back, and it seems like he's got nothing on his mind by girls, girls, and more girls. He's actually pretty sharp, which a lot of people tend to *miss*. Focussed and cool-headed, but when you set him off... whoa. Watch out. He's also quite cynical, but that's hardly a surprise.

Aya: The "cold" one. Mystery man. With the devastating eyes and the gorgeous hair and the "I'm too cool for you" attitude. You *know* this guy had a traumatic past - and you're right! The brief moments of warmth you get from him are few and far between. Of course, he used to be a happy bishounen - which they show you flashbacks of to make his character seem more tortured. As if he needs it. Cold and sexy. What a combination.

I could analyze them all day.

I will never watch Gluhen, either. Bleh. Bastardize MY characters, will you? Nyah! Omi with grey hair is not Omi. And I will never grow to like the new members, either.

However, since I'm such a hypocrite and I can't resist good writing, I'm still going to read Kasra's Gluhen-based fic, 'Talking to the Dead'. Hehe. And I'll enjoy it thoroughly, too. But that's as close as I'm getting to watching the new season.

Oh well. I still have the old seasons to watch.

My husband simply does not understand my fascination with Weiss Kreuz. Hell, sometimes even I don't understand it. But I give him credit - he will watch it with me (even put up with the dub when I'm capturing AMV footage), and he picked up on KenOmi in the show and commented on it before I even got the chance to say anything. ^_^

Gluhen is a completely different beast from the original show. It takes itself far more seriously, and has wonderfully complex plot with evil twists thrown into it. I've come to terms with the new character designs - heck, they're even growing on me - but I can understand why they're hard to get past. I had to reason through them on my own before I could really embrace them. Even then, Yohji still creeps me out. (and let's just not talk about Crawford. *sob*)

I'm really glad you like the fic, though. #^_^# Chapter 6 coming soon... once RL stops trying to shock me to death every three days.

I had no interest in seeing Gluhen, either, until those screencaps from episode 10 started showing up. Now I'm interested.

I think the best way to handle it is to approach it as an entirely *new* series that's *like* Weiss, not as Weiss itself.

The good thing about those ugly new character designs is that you don't necessarily *have* to accept everything that happens in Gluhen as canon if you don't want to. I'm still debating whether I want to include the Psycho!Ken thing in my own canon . . . I came up with a real angsty thing where Psycho!Ken dumps Omi and Omi took his birth name back so that he'd no longer be the person who'd been in love with Ken . . . but that may be *too* angsty for me to write.

Well, if it means anything, Farfarello is no longer around. I can tolerate Schwartz if he's not with them (my best friend is a Schuldich fan, so I pretty much *have* to tolerate them). But he just creeped me out to such an extreme extent that I never had Schwarz in any of my fanfics.

No Farf?

What's the story on Farfarello being gone, anyhow? Is that covered in one of the drama albums?

(I really really should sit down and find translations to read of those... bleh)

Yes, it's explained in the Schwarz drama CDs. He found True Love with a girl named Sally and turned his back on Schwarz. I think they were trying to draw some kind of ironic parallel between Farfarello and Ken, the former psycho settling down and living happily ever after and the former nice guy becoming a psycho.
