I finally got around to reading "Regina's Song". It's by my favorite author - can't believe it took me so long. Anyway, it was awesome, even though I saw the ending coming from the beginning. But it was nothing less than I'd expect from David Eddings. Excellent.
And then I went and saw Return of the King again last night, and the awesome-ness was continued. I adore that movie. In my opinion, the movies are a lot better than the books - and I've been reading the books steadily since I was eleven, so that's a big compliment.
And... now I'm going to hide before I'm lynched by rabid LOTR purists.
I hope it wins Best Picture, though... The theater was still packed tonight, so there's also hope that it'll make more money than Titanic.
We'll see, I guess.

As for the true definition of a fan, well, no, I don't think so. But this is coming from a girl who wasn't really into the books the first time she read them, it took her a while to get through them - as in, several tries. And yes, while I was in fact fond of some characters at first, I really wasn't struck until I had the movie for visuals. And this is becoming something more. Because now I've read the books through, well, too many times to count. But anyway, getting back to the point, no, I don't think that reading the books should have any say in whether you're a true fan or not.
