Yesterday was fun. We went to Kelowna and checked out a few comic book stores plus the mall and a great music and video place. I didn't find anything I liked *there*, but when we came back and visited the comic store here, I found the first volume of D.N.Angel - just one copy left, waiting for me to buy.

Excellent.

So I guess we have a pretty decent anime and manga selection here - I remember back when you couldn't find anything remotely related to anime in this place.

Okay... anyway. D.N.Angel didn't really have a bad translation, but there were a couple points of annoyance. The 'calling everyone by their first names' thing gets annoying - I first noticed it when Daisuke referred to Satoshi as 'Satoshi' and not 'Hiwatari-kun'. He also calls Saehara 'Takeshi' and Risa and Riku by those names as well, instead of 'Harada-san'.

Also, Risa refers to her twin as 'that witch' at one point, which doesn't seem like something she'd say even in a fit of jealousy.

Oh, and there's a brief, cute little story at the end of the manga which involves a girl trying to summon up a Shikigami - the one she gets is a boy who seems to annoy her. I enjoyed it, even though it was short.

And now... I'm off to work. Only four hours this morning.

I have to agree with you on the D.N.Angel manga. I was really thrown off by 'Satoshi', since I always think of him as Hiwatari, and I'm wondering how (if) they're going to deal with Daisuke referring to both twins initially as 'Harada-san', but later only calling Risa that as he gets closer to Riku (though for the life of me I can't remember what honorific he appended to Riku's name, if any). Still, I'm glad to see it getting translated at least, and I'm already set to buy the next volume when it comes out.
