Well, for those interested in that tournament, Hikaru no Go lost to X. I'm not surprised. Just a little disappointed. My anime club president was nice enough to share the comments of the voters with us. There were three people who voted on that particular battle - two voted for X, and one for Hikaru no Go.

The first person who voted for X didn't sound as if they'd seen all of Hikaru no Go - they basically said "good for it, making Go interesting, but I love X". The second person was obviously a big X fan, so they sung its praises for a sentence or two, and said nothing about HikaGo at all. The person who voted for HikaGo just said it was "more interesting than X".

I'm not sure if it would've made a difference to have more people voting. A lot of people tend to think that angst somehow makes an anime more meaningful.

Ah well. Not complaining. I think that X will get crushed by Escaflowne in the next round, though. HikaGo probably would've too; both of them are too little-known and Escaflowne is a fairly popular anime.

I haven't seen very much of it, though, so I can't comment.

Other than that, I've been thinking I'd like to write a series fic for Hikaru no Go. Unfortunately, I would need plot. I'll have time to think about it, though, because I want to finish my current fic, "Summer Storm", first.

I watched the last three episodes I had left of Hikaru no Go yesterday. Episode 60 was a tearjerker. Episode 62 was sad, but I didn't cry. Episode 63 was even more of a tearjerker than 60. For some reason, whenever Hikaru starts bawling, so do I.

I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's wonderful. I'm so sad that I have nothing left to watch of it now.

But I'll still be watching it with Jeremy... He's only seen the first eight episodes. I must force him to watch it all!

If Japan gives awards to seiyuu, the woman who played Hikaru deserves one for the scene in the records room. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

Not surprised that HikaGo lost to X, especially if they only saw a few episodes. You can't get the full effect of HikaGo -- the realistic character development, the aging of the boys that's so subtle you don't even notice it -- unless you watch it begining to end.
