You mean the term 'slash fan' bugs you?
Well... that's a new one, if nothing else. ;) I'm not really saying 'I'm a fan of gay people', though - I'm saying 'I'm a fan of stories where two characters of the same gender are together romantically'.
I don't think it's quite the same thing.
