Well, it is the first day of school. Fun times. I have class at eleven, three, and seven today. Three hours between each one. Oddly enough, I don't mind this prospect. Leave me enough time to go home in between.

Besides, having a three-hour class tonight means I have less class during the rest of the week. I only have *one* class on Fridays now.

Yesterday, I ordered a bunch of stuff. A novel by Lorena Manuel - I didn't know she had a novel. I should've bought this a long, long time ago. Also Gundam Wing: Blind Target, which I bought with Johanna's gift card and which I am looking forward to despite the promise of scary het. It has nice artwork. The other things I ordered were Eerie Queerie volume four (I know, I know, one day I'll get the rest of it as well) and Digimon Tamers volume four (I'm long overdue in buying that one).

So, yeah. I'll probably have Blind Target before I get the rest, but it's all good. I qualified for free shipping from Amazon.ca. Heh.

Other than that, not much is going on. I'm a little nervous about school. Eek...

It's not scary Wing het unless it involves Dorothy and Quatre. Now *that* is scary. Where the hell do people get that pairing from, anyway?

It's very simple. Heero tried to kill Relena numerous times, and this means that he loves her. Dorothy tried to kill Quatre. Thus, she loves him. This also means Quatre is the bitch in the relationship, since he was the one being killed. If she'd actually succeeded, then it probably wouldn't be true love because he would be a corpse. Unless the person writing the story is into necrophilia, in which case it's okay.

And I find Heero/Relena scary. Not because I dislike Relena, not because I prefer Heero/Duo, but because I find the relationship scary in and of itself. Too many ideals and misconceptions to make for a good, lasting, *real* relationship.

Someone I knew from SVAM once said, "Heero and Relena would be a great couple, because they're both insane. Just in different ways."

So, trying to kill someone = love? Well, God knows I've seen that in fanfics for other fandoms before. (WeissXSchwarz fic, anyone?)

What do you think prompted me to make the comment?

I don't actually think either of them is insane, and I don't think both people being insane is necessarily a compatibility factor. The reason I don't think their relationship would work is because they idealize each other too much and don't seem to be very interested in the person beneath their concepts of each other. (notice I'm avoiding the use of the word 'delusional')

I actually think how they set Dorothy and Quatre against each other was interesting, because they seemed to be created as opposites - and of course in the end we find out that they were really very much alike. Even their appearances seem to reflect this - both of them have platinum blond hair, blue eyes, and pale complexions. But Dorothy's facial features are arranged to make her seem like a very evil character. Quatre, on the other hand, is designed to look extremely kind. It's reflected in their personalities as well.

I don't think a relationship between the two of them would work. In fact, I think it would be an absolute disaster. I don't know why anyone's even considered it.

But, well, to each their own.

Actually, I think a big part of it may be the "leftovers" factor. If someone is doing across-the-board het Wing pairings, you have Heero with Relena, Duo with Hilde, Trowa with Catherine, Wufei with Sally, Zechs with Noin, Treize with Lady Une . . . and Quatre and Dorothy are the only two characters left unpaired, so they get tossed together.

You're probably right about that, but if you're going that route, I think it makes a lot more sense to pair Quatre with Catherine and Trowa with Dorothy. (not that I would LIKE these pairings, mind you, I'm just saying it would make more sense to me)

Not only because Trowa and Catherine are related (incest isn't that uncommon in some fandoms anyway) but because Quatre/Dorothy is such a huge disaster. Quatre and Dorothy are very much alike, and Dorothy doesn't seem to like herself very much - at least, certain aspects of herself, which she happens to share with him. If anything, she'd be attracted to Trowa, not Quatre - he's got a personality that seems to compliment Quatre's fairly well. (I'll save the shounen ai ravings for another time, though)
