High School Meme

What were your three favorite bands or musical artists?
1. Savage Garden
2. No Doubt
3. Econoline Crush

What was your favorite outfit?
Jeans and T-shirts. In grade 9, mostly baggy T-shirts. From grade 10 and up, I started wearing less baggy stuff.

What was up with your hair?
I'd grown out my bangs. In grade 9, I wore it in a ponytail. In grade 11, I had it permed. It was usually either down or in various ponytail-styles.

Who were your best friends?
Venessa, Terri, and Dalia. And Rachelle, but I didn't see her as often. There were a couple of others, but not as close as those.

Did you take the bus?
I walked. It was only about fifteen minutes.

Where did you work?
Paper route. I didn't get a *real* job until after I graduated.

Who did you have a crush on?
Do you really want the list? I think it was six people in grade 8 alone, and there were more in the upper grades. I remember Andres, the genius boy V hated, in grade 11, and Steve Bosdet in band class for a little while, too... In grade 8, the names I remember are: Ryan Boughton, who had a thing for Johanna. Nathan Froese, who I suspect liked me originally but didn't by the time I liked him. Shane O'Grady, who I also suspect I was too late in liking. There were others, but I don't remember.

Did you fight with your parents?
Not that often, actually. I didn't go out much or have boyfriends. I'm sure I would've - I felt rebellious enough sometimes - but there was never really a situation where I needed to.

Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Er... no one, I don't think. I tended not to crush on famous people.

Did you smoke cigarettes?
Nope, and probably never will.

Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
The first few years, I used my locker. After that, I just couldn't be bothered. My bag wasn't that heavy anyway, and it was more convenient to have it with me.

Did you have a 'clique'?
Um... sort of, I guess. The misfits? The outcasts? Not rebels, because that would've involved being noticed. We had fun, though, despite being invisible people for the most part.

Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly, and Slater?
I have no idea what "The Max" is... We have a bar in town called "The Max"... I didn't go there in high school, nor do I go there now.

Did you have any other self-destructive habits?
Nope. I was a good girl.

What had you grown out of by senior year?
Caring about what most of my classmates thought.

What have you not grown out of yet?
Obsessing over fiction. Heh. I'll never outgrow that.

Admit it, were you popular?
Not by a long shot. I got picked on a lot in grades eight and nine. It tapered off by grade 10, and people more or less ignored me after that.

Who did you want to be just like?
No on in particular. I liked the idea of magic and sorcery. And, I admit it, sometimes I had Mary-Sue type fantasies. I was young and silly.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A writer

Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
Finished college, I think. I didn't know it was going to take me this long, honestly. And I've still got at least two more years.
