That's what I'd like to know. It probably depends on the person, though... Some of these people are yaoi fans who are trying to establish superiority over their peers. Others are het fans who want to (pretend to) show that they're open-minded.
The actual yaoi fans would probably still have a problem with making an established gay character straight. The het fans might not, or this character might be one of their throw-away examples of "acceptably slashable characters".
