New series! So to speak.
Okay, so while I was at work, I decided to read some manga online (instead of doing my poetry homework - I know, I'm bad). I kind of debated for a while between Peacemaker Kurogane and D.Gray-man, which were both series I'd been meaning to check out, and finally settled on D.Gray-man.
Much love! I'm glad I downloaded the (newly released) first episode of the anime now.
Anyway, so. I read 18 chapters, and then stayed in lab until 8:30 to finish my assignment so that I could go home and watch the first episode and see what it was like. Because the manga series is pretty darn cool.
I watched the opening theme, watched the first thirty seconds or so, heard Allen's voice, and had to pause so I could go check Anime News Network.
Touya Akira from Hikaru no Go.
The comparison is amusing. I'm not sure that's exactly what I imagined for his voice. I checked out a few others, and found that Kanda's voice is also Yuri from Kyou Kara Maou, Linali (or Rinali, whichever) is also Himawari from xxxHolic, Scar/Treize/Dark/etc's voice is in there (just like in about 70% of all anime) as someone whose name I don't recognize, and the rest I think I may have yet to meet (or at least to remember their names).
Anyway, so far I'm liking the series. The manga is awesome. The animation looks pretty neat, and I figure I can probably get used to Touya Akira as Allen, so the anime is probably going to be pretty okay too. The first episode at least seemed fairly close to the manga, although it looks from the preview as if they're going to skip the second arc. The music for the opening and ending themes is also nothing special, but that's all right.
