Guess that shounen manga!

I came up with this while at the pool. All kinds of strange thoughts come into your head when you're exercising with nothing to occupy your mind properly.

Guess which manga I am summarizing!

Hint: there are two.

Main Character, a teenaged boy, is a part of Elite Group, who are able to use Special Abilities and fight their opposition. Main Character's arm can be transformed due to his Special Ability, and used in battle. He also has Extra Special Ability that makes other Elite Groupists befuddled. This came from a tragic event in his past where he attempted to bring Deceased Parental Figure back to life. This is one of the things all Elite Groupists know just doesn't work. There are other taboos involved in using Special Abilities as well.

There is an Elite Groupist who Main Character does not like. Disliked Character is arrogant to the point of being obnoxious at times, but is a skilled fighter and has worked together with Main Character. Fans often pair Main Character with Disliked Character because dislike automatically equals sexual tension in the world of fandom.

Main Character also has a Living Parental Figure who seems to be heavily involved in the plot but does not show up much. Main Character often reacts to mentions or appearances of Living Parental Figure with aggravation.

The villains of the story are very hard to kill, almost impossible in fact, because they are Spoilers. Spoilers are controlled from behind the scenes by Big Bad Evil Guy, whose plan has been hinted at but won't become completely clear until the end of the series, because it's more suspenseful that way. His methods involve the cruel use of human souls, which makes everyone upset. Spoilers seem to support this plan and follow Big Bad Evil Guy without question, although fans suspect some of them may not turn out to be as evil as they seem.

Main Character will probably end up ulitmately defeating them all anyway, because that's how shounen manga usually works.

Guesses?

See, my brain says this must be FullMetal Alchemist but I know that that's too easy. However, it's entirely possible I don't know the other one. Oh, could it be D-Greyman? (wild stab there!)

I haven't read very much D. Gray-Man but enough to think it could apply to both. Yay, go me! :D
