Yargh...

I realize most people on my friends list don't care any more, but umm, what?

The idea that any kind of voting system for allowing "questionable content" on LJ would work is just so ridiculous it cannot be expressed in words. Does this guy not know the definition of 'journal'? And what about minorities with interests that some would definie as questionable? They're not breaking any laws by talking about the things they like, but if a group of twats who didn't like it got together, they could technically be "voted out".

Besides that, who would decide which content was questionable enough to deserve a vote? There's a lot of grey area in this issue.

From what I understand, they want is "community input", and that in itself isn't a bad thing (had they bothered asking people involved in the relevant communities before the great strikethrough, they would most likely have saved themselves a whole lot of trouble). The problem is how they chose to carry it out. The ideal would be intelligent discussion with the users (as in the wikipedia talk pages). That would require people to sit down and think through their arguments rather than taking two seconds to vote in a poll - and it would make it possible to tell the serious participants from the not-so-serious ones. If this is what they're after, then I'm all for it. If they're just going to use polls, however, then... not so much.

Hi, stumbling onto your LJ after looking up an ol' fic you wrote, "Game Over" - I was just wondering if it's going to be on permanent hiatus?

'Cause I kind of like it. A lot. But I'd like to know where it's at currently, so I don't keep...hoping.
