For everyone upset about watching re-runs (ganked from
third_requiem).
Honestly, I don't keep up with most TV shows, so I wouldn't notice if I was watching a re-run or something new. This strike doesn't effect me much, so seeing a video like this is definitely going to make me sympathetic to the writers. Especially since I have some idea how frustrating it would be to feel like your work is being showcased while you are being ripped off.
Does anyone have another viewpoint to bring into this? It looks like a pretty straightforward case of the writers being in the right and the studios being asswads, but I thought I'd throw the question out there since this video is all I know of the issue at the moment.

Also read this (http://www.wga.org/).
And if you want to read news related articles or to find out what people are doing to show their support, head to
The reason that it's such a big deal right now is that the WGA's contract is the first to expire. Next will come the DAG and SAG. If a deal is struck with either of those Guilds before the WGA, it will make the WGA's position harder to maintain because a precedence has been set. If, however, a deal is struck with the WGA first, then it will set precedence for other negotiations.
And a third fun fact, this will effect movies as well. A lot of teamsters are showing allegiance with the WGA and refusing to cross the picket line. It's already been estimated that there won't be any negotiations until early 2008.
