Anime Couples...

I want to see an anime couple that knocks my socks off. Or however you want to put it.

So, I'm asking for suggestions, if anyone has any. What anime couples do you really feel strongly about, from which series? Doesn't matter if it's yaoi, yuri or het. If I haven't seen it, maybe I'll give it a try! I want something that can make my heart race to watch! It doesn't have to be a romance anime or anything, I just want something with a pairing that'll get me really interested.

On an unrelated note, this is a really pretty song despite the fact that the anime doesn't look like something I'd like.

You already know my favorites :P No knocking of socks off here.

Do they actually have to be a proper couple? I mean, are you wanting actual romance or just really passionate friendships? Before I start waxing lyrical ..

Just anime? Hmmm...

I remember adoring Van/Hitomi from Escaflowne back in early high school (and back then I was almost exclusively into yaoi). Yagami/Roose from Candidate for Goddess still makes me childishly happy (moreso in the manga, though). Watching Tetsu/Saya evolve is so cute in Peacemaker Kurogane.

That's all I can think of for anime... it's been a while since I got into something and 'shipped. Lately I'm more watching things like Death Note and Shin-chan--no shipping involved, just... good story or complete weirdness. Now if you ever want some good book romances, without the hideous sex involved, I got a huge list of those.

Well, of course... L.J. Smith. Anything you can find. I know I squee about her in my journal a lot, but there's a reason for it. She is very romantic without being ridiculous, and since she writes teen books, the romance is... well... more fun, to me. She also has an amazing knack for writing love triangles, especially in her Dark Visions trilogy. But the only books in the market, right now, are the Vampire Diaries. But she is re-releasing everything at some point.

Richelle Mead. Her Succubus series has graphic sex, but it's actually done well. And her main romance is... just unique and good, especially since you don't expect to find a reason for liking the guy. But her Vampire Academy (2nd book coming out on the 10th!) is also just stunning.

I know one of my friends said they didn't like Jim Butcher, but he does a good job at keeping a series going without getting stale. The Dresden Files, in particular. The romance is on the side, but I've been cheering on a particular one almost the entire series. (It's still on-going. New one comes out today, actually.)

Also, if you haven't seen the Firefly series... you really, really should. For the couplings, if nothing else. (Though the supurb mix of Western/Sci-Fi and American/Chinese culture is awesome.)

Kurogane and Fai are the couple who are keeping me madly in love with Tsubasa right now...don't watch the dub though.
It makes me go D:

I cringe every time I hear the awful mispronunciation of 'Kurogane'..as if the voices weren't bad enough..

Seriously D:

I want to thank you by the way, I'm pretty sure you were the one who was talking about Uninhabited Planet Survive? I'd never heard of it, so I went looking, and I'm now up to episode 36 and thoroughly hooked.
Thank you! I needed some new anime ^_^
