Hm... this HikaGo meme went around a while back, but I never got around to doing it. My interest in HikaGo was kind of temporarily rekindled after I got the latest manga volume and then looked up some old doujins.
So... here we go.
1. Beginning with the obligatory question: how did you discover Hikago?
Um. It took a while. I actually watched the first episode and didn't really get into it. I loved the opening theme, though. Then maybe a year later,![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sugahlei was raving about the last special so I watched it. It got my interest (they were all so much OLDER), so I started backtracking. I think I watched the last five or so episodes in reverse order. Then I downloaded and read the whole manga. I fell in love with it at that point. So then I downloaded and watched the whole anime series as well. It's definitely one of my favorites, even now.
2. Manga or anime?
The manga is better, in my opinion. That could be because I finished it first, but I also prefer the character designs in the manga. I know there are only very slight differences, but the differences were just enough for me to prefer the manga version.
3. Describe your Hikago experience, whatever it might have been.
Uneventful, actually. I met a few good friends in the fandom, and I wrote a couple of fanfics, but I didn't get very actively involved. The HikaGo fandom was a pretty friendly and remarkably wank-free when I was in it. I enjoyed my time there. Plenty of scanlated doujinshi and a lot of good fanfic. All in all, a pleasant experience all around.
4. Are you active in the fandom? What do you do?
Not at all right now. I used to write a bit of fanfic, though.
5. Have you participated in any of the Hikago challenge communities? (E.g.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)

I never even heard of those challenges when I was in the fandom... I don't usually do challenges anyway, though.
6. Who is your favorite character in the series?
Waya. I never wrote fanfic about him, but he was my favorite.
7. Why do you like him/her?
He's got a great spunky attitude. I like that he's stubborn and energetic but without being bratty. I admire his determination and his straightfoward attitude. Don't know how to explain it exactly - I just like his style.
8. Do you think this character likes those qualities about him-/herself?
Haha, probably not. I don't know that Waya thinks much about what he admires about himself.
9. Who is this character's best friend (in your opinion)?
Isumi.
10. What do they like about each other?
Well, they admire each other's ability at Go, but I also think they balance each other well. Waya tends to plow his way through things without hesitation. Isumi is more cautious and sensible.
11. Whom does your favorite character dislike most? (Doesn't necessarily have to be a Hikago character.)
I think he dislikes Touya Akira quite a bit... I don't know if he dislikes him the MOST, but I can't remember the name of the guy he punched out in that one episode, and that's the only other person I can think of who he really seems to actively dislike. So yeah, we'll go with Touya.
12. Why do you think that is?
Because Touya's kind of an elitist little snot without meaning to be. I love him to pieces, but yeah, I can see why his attitude would totally get to Waya.
13. Who is your least favorite character?
Ko Yeong-Ha. Bleh.
14. What do you not like about him/her?
He's an arrogant prick who seems to think the sun should rise and set out of his ass.
15. Imagine this scenario: your favorite character, the best friend, and the disliked person are stranded in a small cabin in the middle of the woods during a heavy snowstorm. They have nothing with them except what they were carrying during their mountain hike. Who dies first?
I'm assuming this is Waya, Isumi, and Touya. Well, in that case, Touya would die first because I can't picture him as the woodsy type so he'd probably wander out and get eaten by a bear or something.
16. Do you support any pairings? If yes, please list them here.
I like Akira/Hikaru, Isumi/Waya, and Mitani/Akari. Kaga/Tsutsui is okay too.
17. Which pairing is your favorite?
Akira/Hikaru
18. Why do you like this pairing?
I find it amusing to watch them bicker like an old married couple. It's also fun to come up with all kinds of new ways that they'd hook up, because you know that no matter how it happens, it's going to be pretty explosive.
19. Is there any canon evidence for this pairing?
I think so. It's a matter of opinion, but they seem to be pretty darn obsessed with each other, so yeah, I think there is.
20. What do you think they see in each other? What makes their relationship work (or not work)?
The Hand of God? XD Seriously, though, the way I see it, they are so busy being focussed on each other, they don't seem to have time to get seriously involved with anyone else.
21. Could their relationship survive something catastrophic (e.g. separation over long distances/time, infidelity, unexpected pregnancy, Touya Kouyo's disapproval, etc.)?
Wow, that's pretty specific. And yeah, okay, so I picked the right pairing for this question, but what if I'd picked Mitani/Akari? It's kind of hard to imagine Touya Kouyo's disapproval being a huge factor on their relationship, isn't it?
Anyway... I suspect Akira/Hikaru could withstand some pretty harsh stuff. There's already a bond between them that's deeper than just 'we're sleeping together'. I think they'd manage all right.
22. In your opinion, does the Hand of God exist, and can it be achieved?
I don't really have an opinion on this, one way or another.
23. Assuming that it does exist and can be achieved: Which character do you think will find it first?
Hikaru being the main character, I suspect it would be him.
24. Assuming that it does not exist and cannot be achieved: Which character is most likely to die trying?
I suspect Akira. XD Hikaru's a likely bet, too.

And if I think about it? If I thought I knew the characters well enough and had someone to play with, the fanfic idea might make a good roleplay. Now I'm a little tempted. xD
