That's good. Hope you enjoy the revisit to Kapitel! Over at a community I watch there's been a Kapitel rewatch going on, kind of like a book club except every week a new ep gets watched and then there's a discussion about what different people see and take from each one. It's been neat to have a group to talk about it with, since I missed the fandom when it was in its heyday.
I think I've changed my mind again and I'm just going to download it. XD But maybe I'll pick up the box set in the future if I see it on a shelf somewhere.
Cody and I watched the first episode on my crappy Chinese/English sub set. It's just as cheesy as I remember it. But cute guys with nifty weapons who pull off impossible stunts and have ridiculous amounts of angst are fun.
Well, if you consider the individual discs were selling roughly $20-25 US each when it was initially released, it's not unreasonable. Not sure if it's still in print, for that matter... cheapest I've seen the box set here in the US was $60, but that was 3 or 4 years ago.
Not that I'm saying it's worth that much (given its inherent awfulness), just saying that the price isn't outrageous when taken into consideration...
I was going to say this. I was buying the disks as they came out my Freshman year of highschool? (Or was it Sophomore year?) in any case it was about seven years ago. Assuming anime dvd's are still $20-$25... its about the same. Personally, if I were to rebuy it (or another anime thats similar) I'd probably like it better if it seemed like the box set had/came with something extra but...
I know for a fact that I spent around that much on the dvds. I'd skip lunch for a week or two and save up for them--can't say I had extreme measures of taste. *grin*
You're probably right, but still. These days, you can get a box set for a 24 episode anime for $30 - $40. I can no longer wrap my head around a cost of $100 for what is essentially the same amount of material. It'd have to be one damn good series to justify that kind of expense.
Anyway, I found it on another site for $27.95, so... yeah. Amazon's a bad choice in this case.
Haha, I remember those! I think I have those same ones... then I bought the Chinese/English subbed DVD set and in one episode Youji's name went from Vohji to Vahji to Yojili to Yonjiji. It was pretty funny.
