I wasn't going to comment on this Amazon thing that's going on, because I don't order much from Amazon.com (I order from Amazon.ca, which seems to not be suffering the same symptoms as its US counterpart), but then [livejournal.com profile] tsaiko posted a link to what seems to be a really good theory on why this whole mess took place, and I wanted to post it myself to give people on my friends list a chance to take a gander at it (if they haven't already).

So, here.

Apparently there are links... somewhere (I've got lost in all the posts) that this has also affected parts of amazon.co.uk, amazon.de and amazon.ca. Definitely not to the same extent, but some things have been discovered. :/

Thank you for the link. I've spent more time than I honestly should following some Norwegian bloggers (and one newspaper priding itself for its hip online profile) being indignated over this. LJ isn't normally my go-to place for sanity and rational arguments, but the comparison to Strikethrough makes unnervingly much sense here.

I don't have any plans of stopping to use Amazon, either.
