Young Wizards fanfic
Okay. I haven't read anything from this series in a long, long time (since the last book came out), and out of all of the books in the series, I only own the first three (actually, an anthology containing the first three). Because, really, it was those first three books that captured my heart. The rest just never quite measured up to them.
But... OMG... this fanfic made me melt (and yeah, I went ahead and read it despite having not read the newest book yet). Not just because it's adorable and awkward, but because of what the warning says about the pairing being a spoiler.
Oh man, I really hope this is true...
Seriously. I have been waiting for those two to get together since... I don't know. Since I was still in high school. That's over 10 years. Just the possibility that it could have finally happened turns me back into a giddy fangirl. I don't even know if it's true, but it would be incredibly awesome if it was.
I will have to get my hands on this book. I don't know if I can wait for the library copy either. I might just buy the hardcover. Because... yeah.

(Did not read the fanfic you linked for fear of completely spoiling something potentially good, but I am interested).

You can find info on the books here: http://www.youngwizards.com (I don't really like the new covers, though)
The (very, very basic) premise is the main character discovering she has the potential to be a wizard, and then signing on to do so - she teams up with a boy who is also a new wizard-to-be and they end up forming a partnership and fighting against... well, against death, really. It's hard to explain.
The ninth book was just released about a month ago, and as you can see from my post, I'm a little anxious to get my hands on it. :)
