ATLA new series

So, remember that rumor of more Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon series?

It looks like it will be a brand new story set in the same world rather than any kind of continuation or side story for the old series.

I'm... glad, and I'm not. I would've liked to find out what happened to Zuko's mother, for one thing, and I love the characters enough to want to see more of them. But, given that the main story is pretty well done, they're probably smart for not revisiting. It's over, let it rest, pretty much (except in fanfiction, of course).

And I do look forward to more stories in the Avatar world! Because it's freakin' cool! There is so much more that could happen there. I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with next, because the creators really are awesome at what they do!

YAYS! :D

-Is kind of hoping it will have a firebender and airbender as BFFs for a considerable period damnit-

I'm kind of figuring an airbender WON'T be the main character but I'm hoping there will be one in 'gaang 2.0' if you know what I mean.

Plus Koh. I WANT KOH DAMNIT.

I've got mixed sentiments on this. Part of me is OMG YAY MORE AVATAR GIMME. Another part of me is keenly aware that sequels are rarely as good as the originals, which suggests the second series may prove a disappointment to people who are expecting it to match or exceed the first. Let's be fair: it's a really high bar they've set.

On the other hand, there's always exceptions to the rule. Shrek and Toy Story both pulled off great sequels, and Digimon has managed to remain strong in spite of several all-out cast changes. I guess we'll see which camp the second Avatar series falls into :)
