eBooks
You know something I don't really understand about eBook publishing? The fact that they release some of the books in an older series but not all. And I'm not talking about the last couple of books not being released yet. I'm talking about random books in the middle not being released.
I've seen this four times so far. Diane Duane's Young Wizards series has books 1-2, 4-5, and 7-9 out. Where are 3 and 6? And then Susan Cooper's Dark is Rising series has books 1-2 and 4-5 but not book 3. David Eddings' Belgariad/Mallorean series seems to be there, but we're missing books 2 and 3 of his Elenium and somehow are given books 1 and 2 of its sequel series. And Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic series - well, that isn't there at all, but ONE book in its sequel series is there (I think book 3 of 4), plus the sequel book to that. What's up with this?
I wish I could say it's just Amazon, because I could probably buy ebooks from anywhere else. But it's not. It has to be whoever is releasing ebook versions of these novels, because no matter which store I go to, those are the available books.
What the hell ever possessed them to do it this way?

It was even worse with the Artemis Fowl series. I've been meaning to check that one out for a while. I went to go see if I could buy it as an ebook, and they have it - great - but you apparently can't buy it if you live in Canada(!) so... yeah. Screw that. I didn't pay $175 to keep on collecting paperbacks.
The whole point of the reader is to have my collection in one easily transported place. It works just fine for new books that are released, since they seem to come out in ebook form fairly quickly, but my well-loved favorites are more troublesome.
Anyway, though, it's not too much of a concern at this point. First thing I'm doing when I get the reader is downloading some of the free classics on Amazon. :) That should tide me over for a while, I'm thinking.
