So, yeah, almost finished playing Final Fantasy VII. Just the Ruby and Emerald Weapons and the final boss to go (I'll beat them all. Eventually).

I realize I'm probably at least ten years too late playing this game, but whatever. It was good.

Some things to note:

1. Sephiroth is a douche. I mean, seriously? Why does everyone love him so much? I can't wait to take him out. Asshole.

2. I got to like Cloud much, much more after finding out his REAL backstory (what can I say? I'm a sucker for the underdog)

3. AT THE END OF THE FIRST DISC? WTF? I mean, I knew it happened, but ONLY ONE DISC IN? Also, I cried...

4. Red XIII kicks so much ass. He pretty well never left my party.

5. I think I would be perfectly happy to never see another Chocobo again...

6. The Gold Saucer music is not that good the first time you hear it, much less the millionth.

7. Must. Read. Fanfic...

Sooo, FFVII fans on my FL. Cloud/Tifa? Cloud/Aeris? Cloud/someone else? Convince me!

Man, I haven't done FF VII in forever. I loved that game! My OTP was Vincent/Cid. Sadly, my fav author is long vanished and her stories with her. I'll have to see if I can find some of the other ones I used to read, it's been years and the links did not travel with me from computer to computer after a bit.

I was also in love with the Turks :3 You cannot go wrong pairing them any way and all ways :3

Huh... I never would've thought of Vincent/Cid. Is it a popular pairing? I never had the two of them in my party together for any extended period of time, so I didn't see any interaction between them. XD

I guess with the Turks, I could take 'em or leave 'em. They were okay, but I just don't have any urge to pair them or read fanfic about them.

Mostly, I want to read about Cloud. 'Cause, uh, he's kinda hot. XD

When I firts played, I had already spoiled myself by reading my friends' game guide at her house. This was back when Brady Games had gotten yelled at for putting spoilers in their guides. I was bored because she was leveling and just started flipping through it. So I got my own game and go to this part. And realized I had forgotten about it. I had to put my controller down and try to compose myself. Even now, I'll still sob. I think it's amazing that after 14 years, I still feel the same way I did when I played 10 years ago.

Not bad considering I couldn't stand her when I first started.

TSENG/RUFUS/ELENA is my favorite. I left the Aeris/Cloud, Tifa/Cloud wars behind and went to shipping the Turks.

I don't find the Turks all that interesting... I mean, they're okay, but I have no urge to ship them. I really, really want to ship Cloud, though.

Ship wars don't bother me.

Well, I would ship Cloud/Aeris, but she's kinda dead, and I don't really think Tifa liked Cloud all that much until she met him again in Midgar. ( I feel like I have a really confusing theory on Cloud/Aeris.)

ZOMG! O.O;; I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT. IT IS KIND OF AWESOME. XD

I think both Cloud/Aeris and Cloud/Tifa have their flaws (aside from the obvious "she's kinda dead" with Aeris - but really, fandom can overcome these picky little details, right?). I agree with you that Tifa didn't seem to have any special feelings for Cloud before meeting him again in Midgar, but I don't think that makes me like them less as a pairing. Also, the fact that Aeris seemed to be mostly comparing Cloud to Zack at first doesn't make me like them less as a pairing, either. These are some of the things that make them interesting (at least to me).

I'd like to hear your theory on Cloud/Aeris!

I found that thing years ago. It never stops being relevant. Or funny.

My theory is this: Cloud/Aeris only works if she stays dead. The tragic romance angle works better if he's constantly pining over her.

I guess that would work better if you liked tragic romance stories! I can't say I totally hate them (Simon x Nia is one of my favs), and I... really can't see Aeris coming back to life anyway. But there is a lot that could be done with this pairing!

I don't normally like tragic romances. This one just works better to me.

Every time I do, I always save. Right, Aeris is a delicate flower my ass. They didn't get the memo where she gets pissed off and starts punching everything.

That scene never stops being funny.

Have you played Crisis Core? /has nothing to do with these pairings, but it's such a goooddd game and Zack is awesome. I totally ship Zack/Aeris too :) soo cute!

No, I haven't (yet). XD Nothing beyond the original game at this point. Cody hasn't even played that one, actually...

Zack/Cloud, Reno/Rude, and Vincent/Yuffie for me, although I was never very into the FFVII fandom.

I've seen next to nothing of Zack, although I know the backstory. Should I be looking into Last Order or Crisis Core?

Crisis Core changes Zacks' personality, and Last Order stomps all over established canon.

Where is Zack's personality developed? I've not seen a lot of him in the original game, so I just figured he'd be fleshed out in Crisis Core or Last Order.

What did Last Order change about the canon? I know Cody didn't like it, but he said I should watch it and see for myself after I finished playing, and didn't tell me what was different (of course, he said this when I hadn't yet gotten to certain spoilerific parts of the game that Last Order would've totally ruined for me).

It's established in flashbacks- I felt. Zack is supposed to be cocky, and kind of a dick. In Crisis Core he's goofy, and not so much of a dick. (They've kind of made him a woobie.)

Last Order changed the flashback with Cloud and Zack, provided you played this flashback. It may not be as noticible to you, but to someone like me who loves this canon, and has played it several times in a row, and can remember detail,I didn't like it.

And yes, Cody was right, it'd have ruined it for you, but you'd at least have been confused.

And please, PLEASE skip Advent Children. Summon materia is red. You used a green support materia to summon Bahamut you dolt.

I've actually already seen Advent Children! It was confusing to me when I watched it (knowing very little about the game), but I did think it was kind of neat. Cody actually liked that one, and we are planning to watch the "complete" version when I've finished the game.

Little details like the color of materia are okay with me. I'm not terribly picky.

I think I would prefer for Zack to be goofy, so I might like Crisis Core. XD Based on how little I saw of him in the canon flashbacks, I'm okay with this deviation. As for Last Order... I'm guessing I'll have to see it for myself.
