Schedules

I know Forsaken and nekojita rotate the writing of their series fics on a schedule. It really depends on whether you have the mindset for it or not, I guess. I've come to the conclusion for my own writing that if my brain tells me it wants to work on a particular fic, I'd better damn well drop what I'm writing right now and pay attention the other fic, because that's the only way any fic will get written that day. Otherwise I'll be distracted by the other fic and lose my focus.

In terms of actually blocking out time to write, it's a nice idea, if you have the time to spare. My husband goes fencing practice every Tuesday and Thursday evening, so those are generally my ficcing times, along with Sunday nights, since I'm usually feeling pretty antisocial by that point in the weekend. ^_^;; Sometimes random things poke at me and make me write them outside of those time frames (TTTD has been particularly guilty), but balancing work, ficcing, and real life can be a challenge.

Do whatever works for you. Your audience can wait (very eagerly, in many of our cases ^_^) for what you write, so don't feel pressured to adhere to a schedule unless you really want one.

blah... I really ramble when I'm tired...
