Part one of Dragon of Twilight is up, and part one of my new fic is in the works. Hehe... I think the parts for that fic are going to be longer than the parts for Dragon of Twilight. So far, I've reached the length of DoT's part one, and Majic hasn't even made an appearance yet.
But he *will*, you can be sure of that.
Aside from Forsaken's new chapter of Circle of Time (I *adore* that fic), I read two other new Weiss fics last night... One was a new fic, and one was a new chapter. The new fic was cute, but the new chapter was... well, okay. I just can't bring myself to believe that Aya dictates the household and everyone is cowed by his ultimate authority. For one thing, Aya's never seriously interfered with his teammates' lives unless it had something to do with a mission. And for another, they're all big boys. I'm sure they don't need someone telling them how to live.
Aya: "You and Ken cannot be in each other's rooms."
Omi: "Uh huh, whatever you say, Aya-kun." *already typing a report to Kritiker regarding Aya's drug addiction problem, with the suggestion that he be rehabilitated immediately*
I somehow don't think either Omi or Ken would let Aya push them around.
Last night as I was trying to fall asleep, I started thinking about something a friend of mine says. She doesn't like what some people call 'rivalships' - couples who are either complete enemies, or who just don't get along with each other. I like them myself, but there a few I just... don't.
I can't remember if there are more. Here's five, anyway.
Nagi/Omi: No interaction. They don't even seem to know each other's names. And what's more, they don't *care* that they don't know.
Aya/Ken: No chemistry. How often do these two talk to each other? What would they talk about? What would they *do* together? This honestly baffles me.
Yuki/Kyo: I *can't* like these two together. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I don't like Yuki that much... he's so smug and self-righteous at times.
Daisuke/Takeru: I like them better with other people. That's about it.
Muraki/Tsuzuki: Umm... let's not go there.
I guess for me it depends on the couple. My favorite combination tends to be the best friends thing, but rivalships are fun and exciting at times, too. Heh... I guess there's not much point trying to tear it apart and try to find meaning to it. You either like it or you don't.

I rarely read RanKen. Like you, I just don't get it. The only cases where I'll read it are when I'm reading a fic that has it as a pairing in addition to something else that I like. Most of the time it makes both of them really sappy and OOC, and drives me batty. *shrug* So I avoid it like the plague.
On Fruits Basket: I was actually just discussing this with my husband yesterday when I picked him up from work. For some reason, much as I loved the show, I just can't get into the fandom. Especially Yuki/Kyo. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who was irritated with Yuki. The *only* way I could see those two together in a relationship would be a threesome with Tohru, actually. And even then it would be tense.
Muraki/Tsuzuki - I don't get this one either. My friend Starherd is really into it, but I attribute that to her weakness for villains with white hair (Dilandau, Sephiroth, Farfarello...). I have another friend who absolutely hates Hisoka, but likes MurTsu because she thinks Muraki is nicer to Tsuzuki than Hisoka. WTF?!! (She also likes FarfOmi. Go figure.) *shakes head* I don't understand...
Then again, I probably shouldn't talk. Two of my favorite bizarre side pairings are 13x4 and SchuOmi. But it's all in how they're written - for some reason both pairings have attracted some really excellent writers, and there's some awesome fanfiction written for them. *shrug* It's all in the writing for me... though given the choice, I'd much rather read KenOmi. ^_^

I know a couple of other people who don't like Yuki/Kyo. Actually, I love Kyo, though. Yuki... annoys me. -_- And I can't see either of them ever giving up on Tohru. She can't ever pick either of them, unless they somehow find a way around that curse, but that may be for the best.
People tell me that RanKen has lots of evidence, but I don't think that's ever going to make me SEE it. No one has ever answered my question, either... what would they *do* together?
I personally find Muraki kinda creepy. I think he'd have to de-evil before he could ever be with Tsuzuki, and even then everyone would have to be made to forget everything he did. That's just my opinion, though - I just can't see how Tsuzuki would forgive him.
As for Hisoka... I think you either want to give him a big hug or you want to smack him. There isn't really an in-between. But I like his character.
