Digimon 02 episode 13
I don't know why - I just had to make a post on this one. Maybe because I don't want to study just yet.
You know, I think I should've realized from the start that Takeru's issues were ALL about that stupid male "thing" where they just HAVE to be protecting someone. Figures.
I don't know why they cut out the stuff about how Hikari always looks to her brother for protection. Possibly because it seems strange that Takeru would resent that? I don't think it's strange, personally. It puts me in mind of Takeru from the first season, so anxious to prove that he could handle things, despite assurances that he was too young and too small and whatever.
Whether or not these protective instincts mean he has a thing for Hikari is up to the interpretation of the viewer, I'd think. It's obvious that they are close. They're also only children. Friendship is probably more important at this point than romance.
Of course, I could be wrong.
Also, it seems that the dark evil guys actually SAY that they want Hikari for their wife (THEIR wife - that's right, she's going to be shared). And entirely for breeding purposes. Wow. That explains why it was cut from the episode *we* saw on TV...
The whole thing had a delicious edge of the creepy to it, too. I enjoyed it a lot more than the dubbed version.

I had no idea they'd sliced so much from the tv version. Mayhap I'll finally get around to downloading and watching the online versions (as soon as someone adds more hours to the day, anyway).

Hence the reason there was that confusing "he'll come for you" in the dub - which, of course, he never does. You do see a big dark guy standing up in the water at the beginning and end of the episode, but he's never actually mentioned in the original.
Stupid dubs, messing things up... yeesh.
Also, when I have enough episodes downloaded, I could make you a tape. The subtitles might be squished in at the bottom of the screen (VCDs do that for some reason) and sometimes the tapes I make don't work on some VCRs, but I could make one for you anyway.
Are you one of the people I made a tape of the Digimon movies for? I can't remember... If not, you can have those too.
