Obligatory Potter Post
So yeah, I bought and read the final Harry Potter book.
I don't know that I have a whole heck of a lot to say here... It was a good book. I like the style of writing very much, and there was never a dull moment. I really enjoyed it. I'm sure there were a few holes here and there in the plot, but I didn't notice as I was reading it, so meh. Doesn't bother me. I'm sure the very picky will spend hours scanning the book and picking out every single one so that they can be gleefully pointed out to the world, but yeah. Don't care much. It was a good book; that's all I care about.
One common theme I noticed in the reviews is that no one liked the epilogue. Honestly, I liked the pairings but I still didn't care much for the epilogue either. It was kind of meh. I don't know what it was about it, but it felt too dry and tacked-on. I would've preferred an epilogue that tied up what happened to the characters immediately following the big conclusion (hello, reaction to Fred's death? I was so choked about that! I wanted grief! Tears! ANGST, damnit! We didn't even get to find out what happened to George!). Either that or we could've at least heard something about what the characters were doing with their lives besides reproducing.
Oh well. Can't have everything, I guess.
On a completely unrelated note - and yes, I realize everyone is saying this - Neville is so made of awesome. I love his character more than any other character in the book right now, and he totally did not get enough page space in any of the books.
Yeah. Anyway. Harry Potter is over. Done. Finito. Time for JK Rowling to move on to new projects (Neville side stories? I'd totally buy them).

At least, we could have found out what Harry's post-savior career path was! Auror? Professional Quidditch player? Retired on the proceeds from his seven-volume autobiography?

And immediate aftermath would've been nice. Bleh. Oh well.

It was well written but for some reason, despite the closure, didn't seem.. well.. finished.. to me. Strange but true!

Yeah, I can understand why she did the epilogue that way, but it still didn't feel like closure to me. I needed more *immediate* closure first, and plus all it tells us is that everyone's happy and married and popping out kids. A story like this really needs *more* somehow.
