FMA Last Chapter
I just read the very last chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist.
OMG. Seriously, just... omg. Wow.
That was AWESOME. It was - it was perfect.
Seeing Al come back to everyone with his body made me want to cry. That was the one thing I'd hoped for above everything else, and it happened. It really did happen. I don't think I can properly explain how happy this ending made me, because I just can't put it into words.
Ed's proposal to Winry was freakin' adorable, too, even if I have pretty neutral feelings about that couple in general. I have a soft spot for the idea of Al/May, though, and that picture at the end (plus the fact that he was going to Xing to study) made it seem pretty possible, so... yay!
Also, in no particular order:
Scar is going back to Ishbal! Yay for Scar! ... Can I still call him Scar? I'm going to anyway.
Mustang is going to reform the country! Woot! Even though he's not the Fuhrer (yet).
Havoc is working hard on getting his legs back! GO HAVOC!
Ling is the Emperor... eek. But cool, I guess. Greed's death made me tear up. Again.
Ran Fan is freakin' cool. I wonder who's going to take care of her automail now...
Ed sacrificing his alchemy (essentially his pride) for Al never occurred to me but IT IS SO THE PERFECT SOLUTION.
I will never get over how awesome this series is. Never. It is incredible.

I read some 3 volumes of the manga before I realised that it was incompatible with my feelings for the first anime and only brought me vague annoyance. And reading this post made me remember just how much I love that anime, go figure *g*

I'm sad it's over, but I'm so glad the ending was so incredible. It made me very happy.
I will have to watch Brotherhood now. :D

Even if you don't, I think you could still be happy with this ending, because - well - because it's a good ending! I enjoyed it so, so much. :)

It really is the end of an era - a LOT of people have said that this was the series that got them into anime/manga and they've been following it for years. (I expect the D. Gray-Man fandom is about to get a heavy influx of stranded FMA die-hards, since it's similar in theme and style).

D.Gray-Man might get a few, but I'd imagine that the fans who were going to trickle over from FMA mostly have done so by now. I've had a few FMA fans tell me DGM isn't their thing. But I agree with you! There are a lot of similarities. The D.Gray-Man mangaka has a very odd sense of humor sometimes, though, whereas Arakawa has this simple, hearty humor that I like very much.
I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with the latest content of D.Gray-Man, either. I liked it a lot better at the beginning and I'm starting to find it a bit tiresome now - but I'm still planning on following it through to the end. I remember being absolutely obsessed with it when I first discovered it.
I never did make it through the first round of filler in the anime series, though.
