silverthunder: (Edward and Alphonse - Adopt us)
I've been thinking about doing this post for a while, mainly because my little blurb about FMA:B was so short, but also because I've never really talked about my thoughts on the original series. And I've seen this topic come up a few times and it kind of caught my interest.

I want to state right from the start that I really love both series, for all their flaws. They were both excellent watches, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. But they are definitely different, not just because of their storylines, but because of the way they did things.

But anyway, I'm going to do a brief comparison of the differences, and what I thought each series did better than the other.

Here we go )

Cody and I finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood last week.

Thoughts )
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphonse - Adopt us)
So yesterday I was playing some of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood opening videos (I haven't actually watched most of the series yet, I just love opening videos) and Cody commented that since the anime is just about finished now, maybe we should watch it.

Cody never got all the way through the first FMA anime. He lost interest somewhere in there (not sure where, and he doesn't even remember). He was interested in the new one because it moves quicker and has more humor (although coming from the guy who re-watched Dragonball Z all the way through, I find the 'it moves quicker' part ironic). I like it because it follows the manga. I liked the first one too (that's kind of obvious, seeing as how I own all the DVDs). But I'm glad this one exists because I get to see Ling animated. Ling is highly amusing.

We got as far as episode 15 last night (started with episode 4, since we'd watched the first three a while back). That means Ling and May made their first appearance. Hee!

I'm looking forward to more.

I just read the very last chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist.

OMG. Seriously, just... omg. Wow.

That was AWESOME. It was - it was perfect.

I will never get over how awesome this series is. Never. It is incredible.

Ganked from [ profile] sailormac: Summarize 10 of your fandoms in one sentence, then see who on your friend's list can guess each fandom.

I decided to screen comments for this one, so only I can see people's replies (and no one can cheat by looking at guesses made by someone else). I'll provide the answers next week some time. I think they'll be fairly easy, though.

I am feeling much better now. Well enough, at any rate, to pick up meme/quizzes from [ profile] herongale

Wow. That was pretty long.

Grabbed this one from [ profile] illianaka, although I've seen it all over the place.

1. Comment with any ship from a fandom that you know I like, loathe entirely, or at least have some knowledge about. (If you don't know any of the series I like, just check out my bio.)

2. I will ramble for (at least) 100 words about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on what it is.

3. Put this on your LJ, if you are so inclined.

My DVDs arrived in the mail yesterday. Which DVDs, you ask? The entire series of Gundam Wing, including Endless Waltz in both OAV and movie form, with both English dub and Japanese with English Subtitle versions.

And how much did this set me back? Would you believe... fifty dollars?

I'm ecstatic. And yes, friends with the postal system again, after two weeks of cursing them.

It's kind of amazing that I made it up to 25K with NaNo. Heh. But that's okay.

In other news... V. I wrote it. Just this morning. I don't know what compelled me to finally get on it - maybe it's just happiness because you're home for a while and because I'm pleased with the world in general, but I wrote it.

For the uninformed, please note that I feel very accomplished upon writing this little piece of discussion, because it's been swimming around in my head for a while and I wondered if maybe I was going crazy. But V and I did talk about it last night, and so here it is in its rough form... Not really a structured essay, but I think it's not too bad. I'll probably post this on the fma_fan ML but I wanted to run it by people who like me before I brave the hoard. I'd appreciate comments, criticism, notes about structural or grammatical errors, and any sort of discussion, although I think I'm most likely to receive strange looks instead.

I don't care. I wrote this. So hah.

Well, yesterday I got a nice big chunk of work done on my original fic, and decided to post the first part. I'm having a lot of fun with this!

Anyway, though, for anyone who's interested, you can find the first part of Game Over here.

I'll also be putting it up on my site very soon.

Yeah, I really like this one. I actually think it's coming along great. So any comments are much appreciated. Any at all.

Other than that, I watched episode eight of Fullmetal Alchemist yesterday. I've decided that I definitely prefer manga Winry to anime Winry. I get flashbacks from about a million other anime females when faced with anime Winry. Manga Winry was way more fun.

I liked that episode, though. Not too bad.
