Doujinshi

I was thinking about scanning some of my doujinshi and putting up a page on my website where people can either download zip files or view pictures (if anyone has thoughts on which of these options is better, let me know). I want to know if anyone's interested, though... and what they'd be most interested in, since it will take a long time to scan most of these (my scanner kinda sucks).

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] sailormac: Summarize 10 of your fandoms in one sentence, then see who on your friend's list can guess each fandom.

I decided to screen comments for this one, so only I can see people's replies (and no one can cheat by looking at guesses made by someone else). I'll provide the answers next week some time. I think they'll be fairly easy, though.

The Summaries )
silverthunder: (Duo - Heh)
Grabbed this one from [livejournal.com profile] illianaka, although I've seen it all over the place.

1. Comment with any ship from a fandom that you know I like, loathe entirely, or at least have some knowledge about. (If you don't know any of the series I like, just check out my bio.)

2. I will ramble for (at least) 100 words about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on what it is.

3. Put this on your LJ, if you are so inclined.

In a fit of inspiration, V and I designed this tonight.

I came home immediately to write down... the worst badfic ever written. At least, I hope it is. I'd hate to see anything that's worse.

Take a look. If you dare )

Feel free to make suggestions. This can be added to. Even the baddest badfic ever can still somehow be made worse.

That's all I'm doing for now. Maybe I'll do more later.

I decided to watch episode one of Weiss Kruez again. I haven't seen that in a while... it brought back such fond memories. Oh boy... I knew I wouldn't be able to watch the beginning scene without laughing. It shouldn't be funny! A truck just fell on the girl's boyfriend right in front of her eyes! But... come on... a *truck* fell on him.

Okay, I have a really bad sense of humor.

The fight scene. I thought I'd summarize. It's just so damn good.

Evil dudes: *take turns jumping over the balcony*

An arrow suddenly THUDS into the chest of one of them.

Omi: *decides not to shoot the others*

Omi: Well, it just wouldn't be fair. There are four evil guys and four crime-fighting assassins. I can't deprive the others of their share.

The last jumper is stopped by wire around his neck, and pulled back off the ground to be slowly strangled.

Youji: Sure, I can forgive the fact that you hunt and kill innocent people, and that you work for the EVIL forces in the word. However, you were threatening a woman, and that's unforgivable.

Meanwhile, a third evil fellow does a fantastic impression of a bat, leaping up to attack the helpless female.

Ken: *throws off his girl costume that somehow concealed his assassin wear* Haha, fooled you! *smirks in a very appealing way and slices the guy to ribbons*

Ken: Well, my work here is done.

No explaination is given for how a tight little skirt and quarter-length sweater concealed his jeans and leather jacket. Not to mention the orange sweater.

Final remaining evil guy: Where did everyone go?

Aya: *stands there with sexy black coat flapping in the wind, waiting to be noticed*

Evil guy: Who are you?

Aya: *dramatic pause* Byce. (ah, fansubbing blunders) White Hunter.

Evil dude attacks Aya with his axe.

Aya: Oh, please.

Aya waits until the last possible minute to draw his sword, and then brings it around once in a show-stopping one-swipe killing move.

Fangirls: *swoon*

The END! Unless you count the happy ending scene in the midst of the lovely flower blossoms around the Koneko no Sume Ie (what a name for a flower shop).

This is what hooked me on the show. The sheer CAMPINESS of Weiss is nearly as good as the wonderful yaoi potential. (come on... four guys who live together, in an apartment behind the flower shop where they all work? And people think they're NOT sleeping together?)

Ken's appearing-disappearing clothing act is almost as good as Omi's vanishing injuries trick. Which he seems to have taught to the rest of them as well.

They must carry portable phone booths to change into their assassin gear SUPER fast. Maybe they keep those in the same space where Aya stores his sword when it is not in use. He seems to get his hands on that thing awfully quickly when he is in need of it.

I love this show. Really I do.

Especially the OVAs... oh yeah... Ken and Aya FIGHT! That is so fricking good! Aya just killed Omi! Ken is not pleased.

And everyone DIES. Gotta love it.

On a completely unrelated note, concerning the OVAs: the flower-mobile suggests even more than the flower shop did that they are ALL sleeping together. How many beds do you honestly think would fit into that thing? No more than two, certainly. (possibly even just one)

Now there's an interesting thought.

I couldn't think of anything to put in this entry, so I thought I'd randomly select pairings I don't like, and try to explain why I don't like them.

Fun, hmm?

Let's start with Digimon, then. Pairing I don't like: Daikeru. Why? Well, that's a long story...

Okay. Anyway... It started with season 1. When I first got into the show, I'd never even heard of the show, and I liked the pairing of Taichi and Sora. Bleh. Of course, I encountered yaoi, and liked it much better, but the anti-Sora propaganda really got to me, and I ended up disliking Sora - who had, until then, been my favorite female character. Hikari became my new favorite female. Thus, I was determined *never* to like Daikeru because I would get lots of anti-Hikaru stuff - since both Daisuke and Takeru seem to "like" her. Besides, I like Takeru and Hikari together. So, I was very much afraid of Daikeru and avoided it like the plague.

And then... Kensuke came along with its wonderful Daisuke and Ken action and lots of hints for me to drool over, both when Ken was evil and when he turned good. So, after that, Daikeru broke up both Takeru&Hikari *and* Kensuke, so I had twice as much reason to dislike it.

And that's all. Nothing against the couple itself - it's a perfectly good couple with perfectly good hints and two perfectly nice guys involved. But I don't like it, and that's that for me, I guess.

Okay, next is Pokemon. Pairing I don't like: ummmm... none I absolutely dislike, actually. I even don't mind Satoshi and Kasumi any more. What can I say? It's all good.

Moving along then...

Gundam Wing. Pairing I don't like: there are many. But I'll focus on my least favorite - which is Dorothy and Quatre.

Ugh. Ugh ugh *ugh*! I can't even say how many levels on which I think that this is wrong! I *despise* Dorothy! I can't even say why; I just have this unreasoning hatred for her. Quatre is my favorite character, and I like him best with Trowa, who I think is very cool. But Dorothy... she is my *least* favorite character. I don't mind Hilde, and I can tolerate Relena, but Dorothy... oh no. She is evil. Never never *never* will I see her and Quatre together!

Reasons: okay. For one, Dorothy doesn't even encounter Quatre until near the end of the series. In fact, Dorothy isn't much of a character. She's basically created to be what appears to be Quatre's opposite, and turns out to be exactly like him. (but without Trowa to talk her back sane again) They fence with each other, and she stabs him. This is romantic? I don't see it. In fact, I don't even know why I'm arguing against this couple at all. I think the only reason people like it is if Quatre's their favorite character and they don't want him to be gay. Correct me if I'm wrong - otherwise, I'm leaving it at that.

Let's move on, shall we?

Last but not least, my most favorite-est anime at the moment, Weiss Kreuz. (Omi and Ken FOREVER! Yay!)

The couple I dislike: RanKen. Also known as AyaxKen, or AxK, or RK or whatever you want to call it. Like I care. Why? Well...

For one thing... there is no evidence. There seem to be a number of people who base their infatuation with this couple on one of two things. One, they saw a picture from the show, decided Ken and Aya were the hottest, and proceded to pair them off. Two, they saw the sheer number of fanfics available to them, or read a fanfic for the couple, and decided that this was the best pairing to go for. On the show, you see little to no real evidence. I watched the whole series expecting to see a good chunk of RanKen evidence, so as to explain the popularity of the couple. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

I went and looked at the manga next. I figured... well. If there's nothing on the show, obviously people are getting their hints from somewhere else. I found a site with scans and translation, and I understood a little better. All right... Aya and Ken appear to hate each other with a bloody passion. I see this all the time in fandoms, so it's not such a shock that they're being paired off a lot. However, there's a lack of romantic or sexual tension in this hatred. Maybe I'm just biased, but all I saw was a lot of pride and a mix of 'you're the enemy, you must die'. A little different from "Seeing you squirm is *so* delicious." Digimon is more suggestive than Weiss, hmm?

Third point. Who would be on top? A *lot* of people say Aya. Why? Because... Ken's younger and shorter, I guess. Then they procede to turn Ken into a weepy, weak, obsessive, clumsy, cute, blushing virginal type. Four out of those seven terms more closely describe Omi than Ken. And I think all of them but one can be used to describe Sakura Tomoe. I still have no idea where people got the idea that Ken is clumsy. I've never seen him drop a flower pot or trip over his own feet even once. Anyway... after they've turned Ken into Sakura-in-boy-form, they turn Aya into a caring, kind, open, warm-hearted young man who shows his cold side to everyone except Ken. Ummmm... ok. Now that we've turned Ken into male-Sakura, and Aya into Quatre... Hmm. Doesn't work, does it?

Anyway, yeah. Maybe in my next entry, if I still have nothing better to put in it, I'll add my reasons for liking my favorite couples.
