Well, this is really annoying.

My computer at home won't connect to the internet for some reason, and every time I try calling our service provider, the line is busy. So... I am here at our local college, updating this journal.

For anyone who talks to me on MSN regularly: it is unlikely that I'll be online today. I have to leave for work in two and a half hours, so if our internet isn't up by then... well, I can't come on. And since no one in my house besides me really cares, it's unlikely that they'll keep trying to phone the company while I'm at work, so I doubt anything will be fixed by the time I get home, either. And I work early tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to come back here until tomorrow afternoon.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

There is a fire about 50km from our city, too. Areas near here have been given evacuation notices, so it's fairly serious. My aunt had to leave her home. The fire might even burn it down. My sister is out firefighting somewhere, too. It's really crazy. Right now, it's too far away for my family to worry about it, but this is closer than I thought I'd ever get to a forest fire. We could see it over the hill last night when it got dark out... It almost looked like a volcano with lava dripping down the side - except it was fire instead. You could see the trees going up, even from that far away.

Really crazy.

Anyway, yesterday I went mini-golfing with V, Jo, Adam, and Jer. It was actually a lot of fun, though I wouldn't do it on a regular basis. Afterwards, we went out for dinner and then to Ruckers, where I won some tickets and got stupid stuff for them, then tried out DDR and sucked as usual. Reminding me once again why I don't use the darn thing.

I have lots of leftover junk food now...

Also, I finally got my doujinshi scans site up... It still needs a password, and I'm still asking people to email me for it, but anyone who visited the full scans section at my Ken/Daisuke site already has it, since I used the same password. No need for people to email me twice if they don't have to. I just want to keep track of who's looking at this stuff.

Oh yeah, and here's the address: http://aphrael.topcities.com

It has four Digimon doujins and two Weiss Kreuz, plus one short Orphen comic from the doujinshi anthology. But when I decide to stop being lazy and scan more of my stuff, there will be more up. I still have three more WK doujins, one more Digimon, and a whole lot of short Orphen comics I can scan...

And you never know, one day I might even scan them.

Well, I haven't been burned to death, despite the fact that there are three major fires pretty close to the city and two less serious fires that have been *inside* the city. The hostel next to the Rafter apparently caught on fire... and there was a grass fire only a few blocks from my home. They're both out, but it's pretty scary hearing about them...

There is fire creeping over Strawberry Hill, which is right by the city on the north shore. It's easier to see now that it's getting dark out. Apparently it needs to burn now, to use up all the "fuel" - or, trees and forest rubble. It's so damn close, though - pretty creepy.

The fire around Barriere apparently has left most of the town intact, although it isn't out yet and from what I've heard it is moving in an eastward direction. Which isn't toward us, thank god, although it's close enough to keep some highways closed off.

Areas near here have been evacuated, and hotels in the city are pretty much *full*. People are making offers to share their homes, but from what I've heard, they might need more... Falkland is on "evacuation alert" which means they could be packing up and moving out pretty soon too - as the fire there is also pretty serious.

And the climate is actually cooler than it has been. Isn't that crazy? There's a huge cloud of smoke drifting away from Strawberry Hill. And our internet is still out - caused by the fire, apparently, since it burned some of the cables. They're "working to restore it" but I dunno when that'll be. I'll stop by the college after work tomorrow if it's still out and get on MSN.

They figure at least two out of these three major fires were caused by people casually flicking their cigarette ashes around. All three have got to be man caused fires, since we haven't had any lightening. It's really, really dry around here, too - definitely fire weather.

We need rain, damnit! Send some rain our way!
