Kitty!

I posted more pictures of Quiz in my album on Facebook. He is 13 weeks old now, and getting bigger.

Pictures can be found here. (The new ones start with the pictures of Quiz in the kitty carrier)

I finished watching Honey and Clover II this afternoon.

What a fabulous and moving series... I really enjoyed this one. It made me tear up in places and giggle occasionally, but the characters were great and the story was great, and - well. It was very sweet, and very pretty. The revelation at the end is so powerful.

Definitely well worth the watch.

I've decided that since I have such a big hard drive now, I'm just going to keep several series sitting there for when I want to watch stuff. I have Seirei no Moribito if I feel like a historical piece with a strong female protagonist. I have Tantei Gakuen Q for a fun detective series. I have Romeo x Juliet for medieval tragic romance with a fantasy edge. I have Itazura na Kiss for a shoujo romance. I have Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu for a shounen romance. And I have Lucky Star for comedy.

If I feel like adding any other genres, there's still plenty more space, too.

Yay!
silverthunder: (Alphonse - I'll pass)
Just watched part of the English dub for episode one of Gurren Lagann.

FAIL.

It's not that it was all that horrible or anything... It was just missing the attitude the Japanese voice actors put into their characters. These English voice actors can't even begin to match it. They just don't have the same zing. And that's really what makes Gurren Lagann so fun to watch.

The most disappointing voice among them all was Kamina's. He lost what made him the Kamina we all know and love, and just because of a change in voice. The Japanese voice actor really made that character.

Anyway, my advice on this one is give the dub a pass and buy the subtitle-only set that Bandai so courteously released for us. Otherwise you're just wasting your money.

Normally when I start a post about a series, I have fairly well planned out the way I want to organize it. In this case, I just know I want to say some things. I know that this series was awesome in a way that words can't express. I know it played with my emotions, and drew out my tears and my laughter and my spirit like nothing else I've seen in any kind of story, ever. I would recommend this series to anyone, and if they didn't like it, their loss.

We'll see where it goes from there.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Review of Epic-ness )

And all this without mentioning the kickass soundtrack! But don't take my word for it... go and watch this show. I mean it - do it. Now.

Here are the first and second opening themes (same song, different verse and sequence):

I made some new icons with pictures from Gurren Lagann. The one I'm using is one of them.

Just thought I'd share.
silverthunder: (Daisuke - YES!)
I watched the last three episodes of Gurren Lagann last night with Cody, Ty, and Anika.

... epic.

That's all I have to say for now. Maybe I'll make a post on it later. Not sure yet at the moment, but yeah, it was very good.

Once again the Princess Tutu fandom surprises me with its amazing anime music videos. What is it with this series? Some series I can't find a good vid to save my life, and in this one I have five that I absolutely adore.

In any case, the purpose of this post is to share this video, which is beautifully done and shows off the fairy-tale motif. I am a sucker for this sort of thing...

I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of fairytales in general, rather than just to Princess Tutu fans. It's beautiful, and the song (the one I'm currently listening to) is absolutely gorgeous.

Well. The vet visit is over. It went well. Quiz is very calm in the carrier, and was totally into exploring the vet room. The shot didn't even seem to cause much distress. The initial vaccination and de-worming is done, and I learned something rather important.

Quiz is not a girl. Quiz is a boy.

... well, okay then.

Neutering is less expensive than spaying, so... yay? Haha!

Well, I'm off to Vancouver today and when I get back, I should be getting my kitty! I don't know what I'm looking forward to more... going to the concert with my sisters tonight, or picking up my new kitten tomorrow. Both will be great!

In other news, I've been watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann with Cody, a show I thought I could never really get into, and damn, is it ever awesome! What a great story it has... holy crap. I wouldn't have expected it from a show that at first glance looks like mecha, fanservice, and goofy shit. And it is all of that. But seriously... wow. The characters and plot are excellent.

And the music is the most kickass I've ever heard in an anime series.

Ehehe...

I was so impressed with that pic CuteMew drew of Cody and me at the con that I went and made a whole new layout background with it.

Check it out.
silverthunder: (Kelly and Cody - <3)
New icon - and actually, it is now the default icon. I haven't changed that icon in a long, long time... but this one is perfect. It's me. And it's Cody. And we are drawn in anime style. The artist made us look really cute, too!

Anyway.

I have uploaded the pics from Anime Evolution. They can be found on my Facebook here. Fun times by all! And some awesome costumes...

Also, for those who didn't feel like wading through the previous AE post... here are some video links.

Arrrrrrrrgh...

Why do I torture myself by reading the latest chapters of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle? I haven't read some of the ones before them and, more importantly, I know that it's not FINISHED yet!

Nothing makes any goddamn sense!!!! And even after I've read back on what's currently happening... OMG, WTF IS GOING ON???

Why do I have to wait until Sept 10 to get 20 more pages of what will probably be a whole lot more questions and plot twists? And happening in the PAST for Christ's sake! As if the present in that series wasn't confusing enough!

CLAMP makes my head hurt...
silverthunder: (Alex - All under control)
I'm back from Vancouver... man, that was a fun trip! And Cody didn't even get sick this time. Ty and Anika did, though, which wasn't too great. At least it seemed to be just a 24-hour flu... Also, Jeremy's car broke down at UBC at the end of the last day of Anime Evolution. Luckily, Cody and I were there with him and we were able to get the car towed and then repaired so that he could drive back to Kamloops without worry.

Other than that, it was a kickass trip.

Anime Evolution and vacation rambling under here )

And... that was pretty much our AE trip. I already can't wait for next year. I'm starting on the costumes right away!

Letter given to me by [livejournal.com profile] palpitation

2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 (or more if you want) fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

I got a K! )

Hm. They all seem to be guys... All right, now I have to do another list!

K - girls this time )

Anyone else want to give it a try? Ask for a letter!

I've been working out on the Wii Fit (as well as sticking to my regular diet) for almost two weeks now. Thus far, I have lost about 3 pounds. Not bad at all for a half hour workout a day. And it's fun - I actually want to keep doing it. I have been full of energy almost all the time since I started, too. It's awesome.

I am also obsessed with my DS, which could also account for some of this weight loss (I forget to snack when I'm playing). At first I just played Harvest Moon DS Cute on it, but I found a game called Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard and got addicted to it as well.

More stuff about the game )

In short, I really, really love this game (as you can see from the tl;dr blurb above). The website done by the company (Atlus) is pretty nice too - a fancy flash site with pictures of the characters you can choose for each class and even a section with some cute comics featuring some of the things in the game. If you're at all interested, it can be found here.

Website!

silverthunder: (Daisuke - YES!)
The new website is up! I realize not everyone cares, but hey, I'm excited about it. If you're interested in checking out the new layout, the site is available, as always, at http://www.hiddenlegacy.net.

If you have any comments or criticisms or you notice any errors, please let me know!

The major difference (aside from the new look and the use of php includes instead of frames) is that the original fic is now on the same site as everything else. It was kind of dumb to have a different website for it anyway. I also actually put Threads of Fate on the site (instead of linking to where it was posted on GreatestJournal) and included Piece of a Legend, which I previously was kind of iffy about sharing.

I'm also working on that one again... I really want to finish it. It's a story I'm moderately proud of. I always used to listen to this song when I was writing it, so I've got it on again for inspiration.

Speaking of writing, I'll be posting snippets of in-progress works (fanfic and original fic alike - not that there's much of either at the moment) here for a small filtered list. If you want to be on the list, leave a comment to let me know.
silverthunder: (Himeno - Hee)
So I made a couple of custom error pages for my website:

404: Page Not Found
400: Bad Page Request
401: Not authorized to view
403: Forbidden
500: Internal Server Error

Pictures are from Digimon Tamers, Gundam Wing, Weiss Kreuz, Orphen, and Uninhabited Planet Survive. Hopefully these pages won't come up much, but I had some fun making them, so... I thought I'd show them off.

The site itself is almost finished... I have just a couple more things to get done and then I can put it up. The Uninhabited Planet Survive image site is actually back up already (mainly because I didn't make any changes to its layout and just re-uploaded it to the new host). Woot!
