silverthunder: (Alphonse - I'll pass)
So I had to work yesterday, which sucked. We have fifteen washers in total in the laundromat. A couple came in and used up twelve of them. Then they asked me to transfer it all into dryers.

We have nine dryers, and one was out of order.

Ha. Ha ha ha.

It was a *fun* morning. And yes, that was sarcasm.

However, I did make it to my 35K goal last night. Little over a week left, and 15K to go! I can make it!

I also watched the first of two flashback episodes for Gundam Wing. I was kind of hoping they might have left those out of the DVDs, since they tell you nothing new.

Damn. Oh well.

Before that, I got to see Heero go psycho with Wing Zero. Hah. At least he got the chance to repay Quatre for giving him a beating last time they fought. Ohoho, the tables are turned now, aren't they?

I love this series. I know I've said it before, but it's still true.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
I'm tired. Bleh. Six hours of work ahead of me this morning - which maybe isn't that much compared to some people's shifts, but I'm tired and I want to be in bed. Stupid work.

I haven't gotten any work done on my essays, which is normal. I didn't really think I would. They'll probably be written at the last minute, as usual.

Heh. Oh well.

In better news, I'm up to 34K. I'm hoping to have 35K by time I go to bed tonight, so that's definitely a good start. I'm still in the middle of that turning point for this story... after I've finished, it's more or less downhill. I'll have to start thinking about the new character I'll have to add, though.

Ah well. She'll be fun. Hehe.

15K to go, and a little over a week to do it in. I dunno...

Guess we'll see how I manage.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
Spent another day of getting not much done. I was going to work on an essay yesterday - didn't happen. Was going to work on NaNo last night - didn't happen. The only thing I did do was finish off the little bit of my Networking assignment that I had left to work on.

At least *something* is done.

I want to get to 35K by Sunday. That is my goal. Then I'll have 15K left for the rest of the month.

I also want a draft of my essay done by Monday, if that's possible. I'll worry about the second essay after that. That'll be a little harder. Stupid school...

Ah well.

I watched the last episode with psycho Quatre this morning. He's all normal again now - very unhappy, most likely, but not insane any more. Poor Trowa.

I love this series.

Also caught the dub for episode 11 of Gundam Seed last night - that series is pretty cool too. And hey, I had momentarily-psycho Kira just in time to go along with psycho Quatre. And Nicol! I love Nicol. He's so cute. Fllay is creepy, and the music is awesome. Good stuff.

Anime club meeting today, too.
silverthunder: (Alphonse - I'll pass)
So I need a new costume for belly dancing. This would set me back more than I really want it to, but mom agreed to chip in. I love my parents.

My sister had some kind of misunderstanding with her boyfriend yesterday, and came home in tears. It was kind of... odd. They've been seeing each other for a long time now - he's almost like a family member. In any case, she seemed very worried that they would break up, but apparently they talked it over and worked things out.

Hopefully that's a good sign.

Now for better news. I did manage to get one of my essays figured out - I now know what I'm going to write on, and how I'm going to organize it. Which is a lot better than I thought I'd do yesterday. Also, the networking assignment is only the first half of our final project - and the easiest half. I'm almost done already.

And my word count is up to 32K.

Now if only I can keep this pace up...
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
My goal for today is to get the outlines for my essays done. That means I have to have at least some idea of what I'm writing about. That is the goal.

What I would rather do is watch Gundam Wing. Unfortunately, I don't have much time for that.

The second goal is to hit 32K. I'm at 30K right now. I'd like to try my best to stick with 2K per day, but that seems unlikely at the rate I'm going. But hopefully *something* will work out.

We'll be getting our final assignment in Networking today. That means getting the essay outlines done will help me a lot, since after I get that assignment, I'll have a *lot* of work to do. It'd be nice if the essays were all planned and structured and ready to be written.

It really would.

The question is, will it actually happen?

I'm feeling lazy...
silverthunder: (Roy)
Well, I actually did get that short assignment done yesterday - plus as much as I'd wanted to write in my NaNo story.

Now, if I can just keep up this pace... I can still make it.

29K. I'm getting there. Less than half to go.

Just watched episode 20 of Gundam Wing, too. Trowa's so hot in uniform. I love him. And that impossible little flip thing at the end where he pulls a gun on Heero is just awesome.

This series rocks.

Next up... Quatre goes psycho. I wonder if the insane laughter at the end of that episode will be more or less creepy in Japanese.

I guess we'll see.

School today, and then I'm going to try and at least get some kind of outlines done for my essays. And then more NaNo. And all of this before I hang out with Jeremy. We'll be finishing off the rest of Orphen Revenge. Then it'll be Gundam Wing. And probably Gundam Seed after that.

Excellent.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
Well, I made it to 27K, which was my goal for yesterday in NaNo - just barely, though. My sister had a 12 page essay due today that she did all of last night, so I didn't use the computer much. Nice to know she's not immune to procrastination. No student is, I think...

Anyway, that just meant I watched a bunch of Gundam Wing episodes. I watched episode 19 this morning, and was happy to note that a place that had skipped when I watched it downstairs with my friends didn't skip on my DVD player.

Excellent. Because it was when Duo was fighting, and I don't want to miss out on that. I still have it on tape from when I got the episodes off the TV, but still. Want it on DVD.

But it's all good.

I love this series so much. I think I can appreciate it more now that it's been a couple of years and my tastes have expanded, and I'm - I hope - a better writer. GW was my third anime, so it was a long time ago that I was really into it. I'm having a great time watching it again.

I have a short assignment to do before tomorrow... and then work tonight. Hopefully that'll get done today, and won't be left until tomorrow morning like last time.
silverthunder: (Edward - Hee)
Well, it was quite a weekend! I had tons of fun in Vancouver, especially at Les Miserables! My god, it was awesome! It was three hours long, but it seemed so much shorter... I could've sat there and watched for a lot longer. Damn, what a great musical.

I seriously hope I'll get a chance to see it again some time. It was absolutely wonderful.

Our hotel was pretty good, too. We were staying at the Delta, which had very nice rooms - and we were on the 19th floor. Yeah, I'm a geek, I thought it was incredibly cool. There was a decent view of the city from up there. It was a lot of fun.

And yesterday, I got to go shopping. I went back to the Crystal Mall, to Sakura Media and Evertoys for some more anime stuff. There was a lot there. I debated with things like a Gundam Seed special with wackysubs, the Hikaru no Go character CD with the very attractive picture of Hikaru, Akira, Waya, and Isumi on the front, the Kyou Kara Maou soundtrack, and - well - soundtracks for just about any anime I could think of. It eventually came down to Gundam Seed OST 3 vs Gundam Wing OST 1, and I decided on GW, because 1) I think it's a better series, 2) I know the music better, and 3) it was five dollars cheaper. Actually, it was only $10 total. I seem to have gotten into a good habit of finding well-priced Gundam Wing merchandise.

And it turned out to be a good call, too. I found all three Gundam Seed soundtracks available for download on Box Torrents, but none of the GW soundtracks.

I'll have to buy more GW CDs if and when I'm back in Vancouver.

Other than that, I picked up some FMA stuff. An action figure of Edward, a keychain of chibi Alphonse with a bird on his head, a tin case with Roy and Ed on the cover that came with a mini-notepad decorated with pictures from the anime, and some stickers.

So, yeah, a pretty successful trip.

The down side? I've gone four days now with only about 200-300 words of NaNo written.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
Well, I'm about to leave for Vancouver... I can't wait to see Les Miserables. Best birthday present I ever got. It's going to be absolutely awesome.

And then I'm going to the Crystal Mall to pick up more anime junk. I'm definitely keeping an eye out for Gundam stuff this time, too. Heh.

Last night was the last time I'll hang out with V until after Christmas. That is sad... damn. The last three days went by so *fast*. It's unbelievable. We had a great conversation until pretty late last night about the Gundam pilots. It's fantastic to be back into GW - just because of chats like that one, if nothing else. I'm enjoying re-watching the series very much.

And I'm going to miss V...

In any case, I'll be gone all day today and won't be back until tomorrow in the afternoon some time. I'll probably have lots to check when I do get home.

Isn't that always the case?
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
I actually sort of took the day off from writing for NaNo yesterday, without deciding to beforehand. It's okay because I'm ahead, and I wanted to spend time with my friends.

I did some Gundam Wing viewing in the morning, and then Jo and Adam came over and we watched more of it. Jo was so impressed with the set that she bought the same sort of thing for Escaflowne. V and Jen joined us later, and we watched more until I had to go to belly dancing. GW is the only anime V actually likes - and it is lovely. I enjoyed watching it very much.

I'm watching the whole series through by myself in Japanese, even though I mostly prefer the dubbed voices. I've never actually seen the original, so I figured now that I have the opportunity...

Yeah. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Also, last night we went out for dinner and then bowling. It was a lot of fun and I totally spaced on my quiz today, which means I got up a bit early this morning so I'd have time to review the material being covered.

I'm not really worried. I'm getting an A in that class and this quiz is only worth about five percent or so.

Anime club meeting today, and then more hanging out with V and Jo. Excellent.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
My DVDs arrived in the mail yesterday. Which DVDs, you ask? The entire series of Gundam Wing, including Endless Waltz in both OAV and movie form, with both English dub and Japanese with English Subtitle versions.

And how much did this set me back? Would you believe... fifty dollars?

I'm ecstatic. And yes, friends with the postal system again, after two weeks of cursing them.

It's kind of amazing that I made it up to 25K with NaNo. Heh. But that's okay.

In other news... V. I wrote it. Just this morning. I don't know what compelled me to finally get on it - maybe it's just happiness because you're home for a while and because I'm pleased with the world in general, but I wrote it.

For the uninformed, please note that I feel very accomplished upon writing this little piece of discussion, because it's been swimming around in my head for a while and I wondered if maybe I was going crazy. But V and I did talk about it last night, and so here it is in its rough form... Not really a structured essay, but I think it's not too bad. I'll probably post this on the fma_fan ML but I wanted to run it by people who like me before I brave the hoard. I'd appreciate comments, criticism, notes about structural or grammatical errors, and any sort of discussion, although I think I'm most likely to receive strange looks instead.

I don't care. I wrote this. So hah.

Elricest: Inherently Wrong? )
silverthunder: (Default)
V, you're here today, right? RIGHT? That means we have to hang out tonight! Give me a call? Or drop me an email, either one works.

In other news, the postal system and I are friends again.
silverthunder: (Edward - Repeat?)
I made it up to 23K yesterday - that makes today's goal of 25K much easier to obtain, I think. It's funny, I was having trouble writing, and then I got to a certain point and realized I didn't want to leave it there - so I kept going. And ended up getting quite a bit done.

I am pleased.

Also, I had time to watch two episodes of Gundam Seed and an episode of Kyou Kara Maou. Gundam Seed is getting kind of addicting. KKM is on crack. But anyone who's seen any of it should know that.

I still have two episodes of Gundam Seed and four episodes of KKM saved so that I can watch whenever I wish. I'll probably polish off the Gundam Seed, since it intrigues me more.

Very good series, that one.
silverthunder: (Default)
Well, I'm up to 19K as of last night... I think I'm slowing down! I must fix that immediately.

Right now, I'm totally just writing garbage. I didn't really know what I wanted to do, so I just went with the first thing that really came into my head. I think I'll play with the romance now, just for the hell of it.

Yes, I have a detailed story plan. I just... want to delay a bit, because I'm not sure if I have enough to cover 50,000 words. There's a certain point that I don't want to get to until I'm over halfway there, and so I'm doing a bit of playing around for now.

Anyway. Finished my networking assignment and sent in the results. Excellent. I was given my essay topics - those are due near the end of the month. I also have to get my journal finished up - I'm way, WAY behind on that.

There'll be another short writing assignment due next week, but those don't take long.

Other than that, I watched one of the episodes I'd missed of Gundam Seed. Um... okay. When I started the episode, I was surprised - the narrator at the beginning was Hawkeye! And then the opening theme started, and I was surprised again. What the hell did YTV do to the opening? They - they BUTCHERED it! I thought that puny little thirty seconds of Invoke with some random mobile suit fighting scenes was IT. Damn.

I wonder why they did that. The original opening sequence was really neat.
silverthunder: (Roy)
I reached my goal yesterday... And then some, actually. I'm so proud. 16K! I am well on the way - now, hopefully I can keep this pace up. We'll see if I can get to 30K by next Sunday.

I'm excited! It'll be awesome if I can actually do this!

Anyway, other than that, yesterday was Sarah's little birthday celebration - basically, dinner at Kelly O'Brian's. Unexpectedly, Jo and Adam showed up, which was good. Apparently it was because Jo's car got broken into, which wasn't good. Someone smashed the window and stole her bag - they actually emptied everything out, and just stole the bag. That is all.

Thieves are weird these days. I wonder what they plan to do with that bag.

V is going to be home this week! I can't wait... It's going to be awesome! I have all week off, and then I'm going to Vancouver on Saturday morning with my parents, so I'll be able to hang out with her for most of the time she's here, hopefully.

Yay!
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
I did much better with NaNo yesterday - I'm up to 13,500 words or so. Only 1500 to write today, and I'll have reached my goal for the week.

Excellent.

In other news, I started listening to one of my CDs yesterday, and the theme for Gundam Seed came on... it made me suddenly realize, "Crap! Gundam Seed!" I forgot to watch it *again* on Friday. Damn. And I was looking forward to this week's episode.

So I decided, fuck it. I went and downloaded some episodes. I'll watch them some time later.

I came across a list - I can't remember where, I just know [livejournal.com profile] insaneneko linked it on her journal - of someone's top ten hated things in yaoi fanfiction. I just kind of mentally nodded at numbers ten through two, the usual sort of things, and then kind of stopped and did a double take at number one.

Goth Gundam boys.

Goth. Gundam boys.

I would say *who*? Who the hell writes this? The fact that it's on her list means that more than a few have done this, enough to aggravate her. The HELL? Goth Gundam boys?

V, we should've put this in our Mother of All Badfics. Or does that count under vampire? We should've included it somehow, though... If only because the idea of Quatre in black eyeliner with a spiked collar is about to give me fits. Good lord, the things people come up with...

Work this morning. Bleh. I wish I had more time to sleep. I'm going to be writing and then heading to Sarah's birthday party tonight, too.

Ah well.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
Well... I sorta took a break from NaNo yesterday - only wrote a couple hundred words. I'll get back on it today, before I have to go to work. Evil work.

I'm annoyed with the Canadian postal system right now. They'd better get my stuff to me by Monday or Tuesday, or I'll be very pissed off.

Other than that, my program is almost working, but it reads more than just the user names and passwords... I can't seem to get the length variable down to the right size. I think my instructor forgot to mention something.

Bah. Oh well. I'll figure it out somehow.

I also rented Slayers Premium last night. I was going to wait and watch it with Sarah since that's her favorite anime, but we haven't gotten together and watched the rest of Slayers Try yet, so it seems it'd probably be a while. I wanted my Zelgadis fix, damnit!

Did I say that out loud?
silverthunder: (Edward - Hee)
Stole this one from [livejournal.com profile] girl_starfish.

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else. This is merely to wet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

Threads of Fate (my NaNo story):

Somehow, Patrick decided hours later, standing by the side of the road a mile or so outside of Derry with his thumb held up for outgoing traffic, his vacation had turned out extremely weird.

Blurring the Line - from part five:

Brian was aware of Omen watching him with interest from the bed - of Cet staring at him as if he'd announced that he was going to strip naked, paint his body black, and do a line dance.

Game Over (my baby) - from part one:

"Great. Wonderful." I threw my hands in the air. "It's my life's dream. No thank you. I don't want to play a game that involves midget ghost guides and weird computer CDs that know your name and disappear from your CD-ROM drive."

(That was more than one sentence... Oh well, what can you do?)
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphonse)
Well, I got lucky yesterday, because there was no new lab assignment in Networking. Definitely a good thing - and next week we don't have a lab session because of Remembrance Day. So I get some time off from that class... I know we'll have our final project given to us after that, though.

Something to look forward to, I guess.

I turn in my article summary today... I can't even remember what I put in it. It's very strange to have finished something so early. It doesn't happen too often with me.

Ah well.

I have to have Jane Eyre read for next week. I'm about a third of the way through. If I don't make it, well, I'll probably finish it up over the course of the week as she's talking about it in class.

I reached my goal for yesterday on NaNo - 12,000 words. I'm hoping to have 15,000 by Sunday, and it looks like I might even make it. Woo!

Now, hopefully I can keep this pace up.
silverthunder: (Edward and Alphone - Sleepy)
I downloaded a program to find and get rid of the Adware on our computer. It seems to work pretty good, so I guess that's a good thing. Problem is, hotmail's not working for me now - it hasn't been since I ran the thing - and I wonder if they're related.

Anyone else had this problem, ever? It's very annoying. I can't check my email.

Meh. Anyway. I'm at 8800 words, which means I didn't write as much as I would've liked yesterday. I think I might be slowing down already, and that's not good.

Hopefully I'll get back into it... Problem is, I've got an assignment that I want to work on today (it's due Monday, but it's a hassle to leave it because we always get a new assignment during lab) and then belly dancing tonight, too. I don't know if I'll as get much writing done as I want to.

I guess we'll see.
