silverthunder: (Aang and Katara - Fly away with me)
I've decided that this video is probably my favorite Aang/Katara video on YouTube. It's a shame it's so short... but the second part is pretty fun, too.

So, remember that rumor of more Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon series?

It looks like it will be a brand new story set in the same world rather than any kind of continuation or side story for the old series.

I'm... glad, and I'm not. I would've liked to find out what happened to Zuko's mother, for one thing, and I love the characters enough to want to see more of them. But, given that the main story is pretty well done, they're probably smart for not revisiting. It's over, let it rest, pretty much (except in fanfiction, of course).

And I do look forward to more stories in the Avatar world! Because it's freakin' cool! There is so much more that could happen there. I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with next, because the creators really are awesome at what they do!

So, my copy of 'A Wizard of Mars' arrived yesterday, and I finished reading it today.

Yeah, it was good.

Here's why )
silverthunder: (Aang and Toph - LOL)
Why am I so amused by this? Someone please tell me.
silverthunder: (Lavi - Ooh... sparkly...)
I could seriously sit and watch this guy jump around for hours. It's... strangely hypnotic.
silverthunder: (Sora - Woot!)
The Avatar Big Bang fanfic is FINISHED! Sort of. Still have to go through it a couple more times before I feel like letting anyone else look at it. Even then, I'm not sure. I'm too used to reading it; I can't tell where it has problems any more.

But it's done! Finished! Even if it's crap, it's still going to qualify for the June 1 deadline since I'll have at least a rough draft to submit.

I'm not looking at it again until at least tomorrow night. Until then, I'm revelling in the wonderful feeling of OMGDONE.

Or I might work on one of my other fics. I'm masochistic like that.
silverthunder: (Aang and Toph - LOL)
Despite all my contempt for Twilight, I will admit that there is one very important reason that the fourth book needs to be made into a movie, and this reviewer expresses it brilliantly.

Other bad movies will be compared to this one for decades. I'm sure of it.
silverthunder: (Jyou - It can't end like this)
I am two scenes of writing and three additional scenes of revising away from being finished with the Avatar Big Bang fanfic...

*dies*

Two weeks until the deadline for art. I dunno if this one's getting art seeing as how it's mainly Aang x Katara and may be iffy plotwise, but I. Must. Finish!

... Following which I'll probably immediately start working on Aang and Zuko being driven insane by the crazy girls. When Katara finds out, she will be suitably pissed. Oh, and then after that I have that other long fanfic I haven't even posted here yet! Must work on that one too!

*cough* Yeah, anyway. Not like I have a wedding in two and a half months to get ready for or anything. Ehehe...

1. Comment to this entry saying "ICONS!" and I will pick 6 of your icons.
2. Make an entry in your own journal and talk about the icons I picked!

(If you have six icons or less, feel free to pick up the meme and talk about your icons anyway. Heh.)

The icons lycoris picked for me )

Okay. I haven't read anything from this series in a long, long time (since the last book came out), and out of all of the books in the series, I only own the first three (actually, an anthology containing the first three). Because, really, it was those first three books that captured my heart. The rest just never quite measured up to them.

But... OMG... this fanfic made me melt (and yeah, I went ahead and read it despite having not read the newest book yet). Not just because it's adorable and awkward, but because of what the warning says about the pairing being a spoiler.

Oh man, I really hope this is true...

Seriously. I have been waiting for those two to get together since... I don't know. Since I was still in high school. That's over 10 years. Just the possibility that it could have finally happened turns me back into a giddy fangirl. I don't even know if it's true, but it would be incredibly awesome if it was.

I will have to get my hands on this book. I don't know if I can wait for the library copy either. I might just buy the hardcover. Because... yeah.

Well, shit

silverthunder: (Sokka - WHAAAAAT?)
...

So, given the events in the most recent Fullmetal Alchemist chapter, I'd say the end of the series is pretty damn close.

Gah.

Ever take a moment to watch through the Digimon season 1 dub and notice how many things Izzy says that are supposed to sound intelligent, but... aren't?

This person did.

I'm highly amused. Izzy is just awesome. But yeah.
silverthunder: (Aang - Huh?)
So, there seems to be some kind of movement with published authors on the 'net - not an actual organized anything, but Diana Gabaldon posted something on the subject and now it seems that George R.R. Martin has done the same.

The topic in question is fanfiction, and I believe the main point of the argument is that it is immoral to be writing fanfiction. There's some question of the legality - fanfic has always been on the borderline of legality - but I think this is really a question of morality.

[livejournal.com profile] herongale did an excellent post on the subject here, which I think anyone interested in the topic should read. She also posted it as a response to GRRM and was blithely ignored, it seems. I was skimming some of the comments and it kind of struck me how little the original posters were willing to really listen to what those who disagreed with them had to say.

But I will post what I have to say anyway )

EDIT: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gossymer, I found another great rant on the subject. Go read it. It's excellent.

EDIT THE SECOND: Two more links: here and here.

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.

Fandoms I'm willing to write for:

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Digimon
Hunter X Hunter
Hikaru no Go
Uninhabited Planet Survive
... uh. Maybe some others. Ask and find out. Those ones for sure, though.

I also reserve the right to write the couple you picked in a platonic way if I REALLY don't like the pairing. 'Cause I'm totally unfair like that.
silverthunder: (Sokka and Aang - Manservants?)
New icons, woo! I made three this morning. All for ATLA, of course.

Also, there is now a third trailer for the Last Airbender movie, which is apparently now going to be released in 3D. Not sure if it'll save the movie from tanking (I kind of expect it to tank), but this trailer certainly makes it look cool. Lots of focus on the special effects in this one, as well as a couple of scenes from the series and our first glimpse of the Blue Spirit.

silverthunder: (Aang and Katara - Hold on)
I have a really bad feeling that this is going to be some kind of movie tie-in, but I am still holding out hope that it isn't!

Iroh prequel? Zuko's mother sequel? Completely unrelated characters in the same world? I'm all for it! As long as it's a legit Avatar cartoon and not a movie tie-in.
silverthunder: (Ruki - Piss off)
So if anyone was wondering whether or not LJ had decided to stop being sneaky and making dumb mistakes, you can stop wondering now.

People...

Can we all spot the stupid in this argument?

Being voiced by white voice actors =/= being played by white actors in live action.

PERCEPTION, PEOPLE.
silverthunder: (Leorio - Can you hear me now?)
So I'm still working on some of the invitations, although most have been sent out now. The ones I still have to finish are for people who already know the date and time and are pretty much going to be there. I still want to get them done as soon as I can, but I'm waiting on more supplies in the mail. Bleh.

Still have a bunch of stuff to do, but again, can't do most of it just yet. It's kind of annoying. Oh well.

Cody and I decided to move the elliptical to the computer area, so we can hook up our computers to our 37" TV while and watch downloaded anime while working out. The TV also has a DVD player hooked up, so while it's not quite as nice as the 50" with the surround sound, it means we have more we can choose from to watch.

I'm planning to finish off some series I started a while ago, watch a couple of new series I've been thinking about looking into, and also probably still watch some Avatar here and there. Currently, I'm planning to focus on Toradora!, a new series called Working!! that looks kinda cute, and probably finishing up Shangri-La at some point. I've also got a few others I'll likely plow through. But today I'm going to finish the last two episodes of Tales of Symphonia. The new OVA for that series is going to be out this year, so yeah. Want to finish the first one.

Cody and I are also watching a new series together that he downloaded a week or so ago. It's called Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and it's based on a supernatural murder mystery game. He was a few episodes in to what he thought was the only season for it, and looking over his shoulder, I thought it looked familiar. It looked a LOT like a series I downloaded an episode of back when I was looking for stuff like Ghost Hunt. But when I asked Cody about it, the first episode he watched was absolutely nothing like the one I'd watched. And I'd deleted mine, so I couldn't confirm it.

It looked more and more familiar to me as I started watching over his shoulder, so I actually went on MyAnimeList to see if I'd marked that series as 'watched one episode and dropped'. Yup, sure enough, same anime. So, I did a little more investigation.

Turns out there's more than one season.

So, yeah. Cody downloaded the second without knowing. The episode I'd watched had been from the first. He was kind of annoyed when he found that out, because a few things had been given away by this point. But, he dutifully downloaded the first season and we've been watching it pretty faithfully since then. Despite the fact that I dropped it after the first episode thinking that it wasn't my thing, it's actually got a kind of interesting twist to it.

More on Higurashi )

I gotta say, the opening themes for this series are pretty cool. I forgot to put them on my iPod before leaving this morning, unfortunately, but I will do so tonight. They're definitely haunting enough to go with this creepy series.
