I don't really have anything much to work with to make it fancy or anything, but I decided a couple days ago to make an AMV. It's not going to be anything special. I've only spent about six or seven hours on it so far... Most of what I'm doing is trying to sync it with the music. (read: trying) Hopefully it'll be half-decent.

At any rate, it's keeping me busy, and I like that. It's nice to have time to work on random projects that consume hours without you noticing.

The AMV is for Uninhabited Planet Survive (ooh, surprise?) and inspired by [livejournal.com profile] sailormac and her post on the bashing of female characters. This one is a tribute to the girls of UPS. I'm using music that *I* like, so not everyone else will like it.

If I finish it (looks promising at this stage), I'll put up a link here to share with whoever's interested.

So Jer and I went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night. It was amusing. Not the best thing I've seen, but not bad. I haven't read the books, so that probably makes a difference. I do know why towels are so important. That wasn't explained in the movie, which kind of sucks. The romance bored me. Actualy, the female character in general was annoying. She had no purpose, other than being rescued and falling for the main character.

But if you ignore that, the movie wasn't bad. It definitely had its moments.

There was a preview for Star Wars episode three. That was pretty cool.

Still fixing up Game Over. I promised it'd be up soon more than a week ago, didn't I? This should teach me not to make promises...

Hey V... remember when we came up with the badfic where Jesus became a vampire in the end?

Looks like it might actually get written.

In other words, Anne Rice is taking on the life story of Jesus Christ. And the saddest part of this is that I'm not joking. Fandom Wank appears to have it covered. Speculations on vampire Jesus are here.

Wow. That's all I can say. Just... wow.

So, yesterday Angeltowns decided that they needed to shut down all free accounts. This includes my UPS screenshot site, which I was a little annoyed about.

I've never been so glad that I decided to get the paid space for my homepage. It's still there, because obviously they're not randomly deleting paid accounts.

I'd used about 10MB of space for my homepage and am allowed 100MB. My images site was almost 50MB. I have the UPS site backed up on my harddrive, so all I needed to do was spend a good hour this morning uploading everything to my homepage space.

The images site is now here, for the curious: http://www.angeltowns2.net/aphrael/UPS

This also means everything on it can be direct linked, which is kind of cool. So I guess it's not too bad that this happened.

Still annoyed with the wasted time, though. Bah.

Help?

This post has two purposes. One, to show of one of my two new icons. And two, because I would like to ask for help from anyone on my friends list who is experienced with making layouts for LJ.

I want to make a really cool layout for my LiveJournal... Because, well, I figure as long as I'm going to be paying for it, I might as well make it look as nifty as I can.

So, does anyone know how to do this? Just the basics, even? I'd really appreciate the help if anyone can offer it. Please?

I work this morning - fun times. I also had an anime club meeting yesterday, which was fun. I bought four new volumes of manga, ordered another one, and then also ordered the second FMA DVD.

I spend way too much money on anime. Ah well.

The manga I bought were volumes five and six of Tokyo Babylon, volume one of Descendants of Darkness, and volume five of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. Since I don't yet have volume four of Tokyo Babylon, that was the one I ordered. I've read them all by now, because I always have to read new manga as soon as I get them. Besides, I was anxious to see what happened in Tsubasa. And the next volume looks very interesting, from the little preview at the end.

Tsubasa Chronicle episode three is downloading now... Also, I have downloaded Howl's Moving Castle, but have yet to watch it. I might do that tonight while putting off the studying I really should start on today.

We'll see.

I've finished my site. It is all up and I put a redirect on the main page of my old site. Also, ff.net, fp.com, mm.org, LJ, and GJ all have the address of my new site instead of my old one now.

Here it is: Hidden Legacy

I think it looks pretty okay. Much better than the old one, that's for sure. I've been wanting to fix that one up for a long time but never had the drive to actually *do* it.

Let me know what you think! Also, if it doesn't work for anyone, let me know, okay? Last night I showed it to two people online, and it worked for one but not the other (which is odd, since it's very plain). We're thinking it might have to do with the Mac/PC issue, so anyone with a Mac, please let me know if it works or not.

Other than that, I did some more plotting, and I really can't wait to get started on writing my new fic. It still needs a couple more things worked out before I can, but hopefully I can get that figured out soon.

The exam yesterday went fairly well. Most of what was on there, I was already pretty good at. There were a couple of tricky things, but that's mostly because I didn't study enough. So it's all good.

I think I'll do well in that course.

I've almost got that fic planned out - I can't wait to start working on it! However, since I've paid for my webspace already, the site comes first.

For whatever reason, last night I decided that it would be a good idea to stay up until two-thirty in the morning making my Digimon fanfics page, and redoing all the fanfics so they had the same design. As a result, that page is the only part of the site besides the main page that is actually finished.

I decided to use the same basic design as my new Uninhabited Planet Survive site because I'm lazy I like how it looks. If you're interested in taking a look, what there is of the site so far is here.

The original fics site, I'm going to leave more or less the same for now, so I just had to upload all of the pages. That portion of the site is good to go - I'll just create an index page that links to both sections, and provides other links to my LJ and GJ and Webcomic. Then I'll mostly be done.

I should note that the entire Digimon fics section (easily the weightiest part of the site) PLUS my original fics site take up only 4MB of room. I'll have plenty of space for music files and such once the whole site is uploaded, so I might have a couple of those available every so often.

We'll see.

Topcities is being quite bitchy recently... I've had my site hosted there for a long time, and actually, for a long time I haven't really had any problems (beyond the occasional 'running out of bandwidth' thing) but now I am and it's a very annoying one. Topcities seems to no longer allow me to upload files - I'm not sure if my account is locked or if they've made a policy change where only paid users can upload new files, but it pissed me off enough so that I decided it wasn't worth bothering with any more.

So, my site will be moving very soon. I'll leave the remains of the old one up, but I'm going to add a link to the new one on the index page (assuming Topcities will even let me do THAT much), and starting tomorrow, I'm going to COMPLETELY redesign the entire thing (it really needs it anyway) and upload it to its new home.

This may take some time, since I've written a LOT of fanfics, and putting them all up will be tedious. But I really don't want to put up with Topcities right now.

Actually, I'm moving to AngelTowns, and I think it'll be a lot better. For one thing, there's unlimited bandwidth. And, I decided to go with one of the paid accounts, which is pretty cheap and which provides me with 100MB of room, support for direct linking, and unlimited file size.

The convenience will definitely be worth $12 per year, I think.

If there is at least one person in your life whom you consider a close friend, and whom you would not have met without the Internet, post this sentence in your journal. And if the people are too many to count? Why, then you put this.

Thanks, guys.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. I wrote another UPS drabble - this one is gen and from Bell's POV. It was kinda fun.

I still need a plot for a longer fic for that series... Seriously.

Had a nice long chat with Karasu about UPS, which resulted in a lot of crack-ish conversation. It was fun, though.

Jo and Adam came over last night and ended up staying until two in the morning watching episodes of Uninhabited Planet Survive. The last one we watched was episode 15. I was telling them how Howard is now my second favorite character, and they both think I'm crazy.

We'll see about that later in the series. No one I know who has watched this show has managed to hate Howard all the way through.

And, school is done now... I am happy.

In other news, I have a new icon. Pretty?

Just two more classes to go, and then the semester is over. I'm pretty relieved...

I finished the Uninhabited Planet Survive screenshot site I was making. I posted the link on [livejournal.com profile] mw_survive if anyone's interested. There's also a link on the Links page in my site.

I did some writing yesterday - mostly in Piece of a Legend, although I messed around with some random UPS junk that probably won't ever get finished. I think I have a sort of idea I might do, but I'll have to work on it a bit before I really decide.

It's nice to have nothing to do for a while...

'Course, next week I'll have to start looking for a second job and studying for exams, but that's next week and this is now.
silverthunder: (Daisuke - YES!)
I am done with assignments! No more assignments! This is the end!

Yeah. My last assignment was sent in last night. I am finished. I am free. Except for exams, school is OVER for me! (until next year)

Excellent.

Today, I need to put words in the latest comic for Artificial Sanity, watch the third episode of Digimon Tamers (which I downloaded quite a while ago), and probably *write*.

Given that I don't have an Uninhabited Planet Survive fanfic idea as of right now, I'll probably work on Piece of a Legend for a while. (I've kind of left my characters thinking they're going to get off easy and be happy without working for it. Hah!) But, you never know. Inspiration might strike. And I have a couple of possible drabble ideas that I might get into instead...

We'll see how it goes. I have lab this morning which I will go to despite the fact that we don't have assignments any more and it probably won't matter in the long run. I'm such a geek.

But, hah! Don't care! I'm DONE!
