I've seen this kicking around - I just have to assume it's a meme, but it didn't come with instructions. However, the description kind of says it all. I assume that you pick 20 OTPs and list them.

Like hell I have 20 OTPs. You guys get ten. I think [livejournal.com profile] third_requiem only listed five on her journal anyway. Granted, she actually gave reasons for each of them...

Ah well.

Ten OTPs )

Birthday!

silverthunder: (Daisuke - YES!)
It is my birthday today, and I am 23 years old! Yay! And I just found out yesterday that it's also [livejournal.com profile] feather_down's birthday - she is 21 years old. Happy birthday!

So far I've gotten a card from my parents and one from my grandmother. The one from Grandma also had a $100 gift card for Chapters. I'm getting $50 worth of stuff from Chapters from my mom too, so I think I'll be set for manga for a while.

Yup. It's been a great birthday so far already.

Also, yesterday I finished writing up drabbles for the Hunter X Hunter 20 Themes, and have posted them here. Some are general fics and some are shounen-ai/yaoi. They're all either 100, 150, or 200 words long.

I had a lot of fun writing them. It was a lot like writing haikus, since you can only have the one brief scene - like a clip in time. It was a great exercise, and I wouldn't mind doing it again some time.

We'll see, I guess.

I spoke to Dalia on MSN last night... I haven't seen her in about three years now, I think. It was nice chatting with her again - and she sent me an e-card, too. I got two e-cards in total; one from her, and one from V. They both arrived shortly after midnight, so I saw them before I went to bed - which was nice.

This is a beautiful song. I downloaded an AMV with this song on it, and absolutely fell in love. The AMV wasn't that great - not bad, but not great - but the song is. I downloaded some more by the same group, and most of them were pretty nice, too.

Excellent.

1. Go to the Elouai doll maker.
2. Make an ordinary doll of yourself and save it.
3. Take that doll and, leaving a couple things (nose, eyebrows, whatever) the same, Mary Sue yourself. Make the most blatant Mary Sue you can conceive.
4. Post "Before" and "After" in your LJ. Bonus points if your Sue has a backstory of some sort.

Well, that was fun.

True Story. A religion teacher assigned her class an essay on what makes a good Christian. One student wrote about praying nightly, say no to abortion, banning gay marriage, and donating money. The other student wrote about talking to God and allowing people to enjoy their lives, and supporting gay marriage. The day the teacher was to hand the papers back, she called up the second student and told him she would pray for him when he went to hell. The student asked why would he be going to hell, and why he got an F on his paper. The teacher told him that Catholisim is against gay marriage. The student looked at her for a minute, then said aloud, "I'm gay." The teacher kicked him out of class as if he had said fuck or worshiped Satan. A girl in the back of class who had a boyfriend and was obviously straight got up and left too.

If you would leave the classroom, repost this. It doesn't matter if you're straight, bi, or gay. It doesn't matter if you're Catholic or not. Everyone is a human being and deserves happiness.

I want these posters so badly. I hope they still have them in stock when I'm there August 18. If not, though, I'll probably come home and order them online as soon as possible. Because I cannot be expected to think rationally when faced with CUTE posters of characters I love.

On another note, does anyone know if there are more than three soundtracks for Hunter X Hunter? I was looking for a particular background song, but couldn't find it on the three I have downloaded.

I suppose it might be on the OVA soundtrack... but it plays during the TV series, so it should be on one of those soundtracks.

Maybe I'll just rip it right off the episode. I don't intend to put it on a CD or anything, I just want to listen to it.

I watched the other Hunter X Hunter Musical yesterday. It was more entertaining than the first, just as people had told me. Actually, it looked like the seiyuu were having a lot of fun actually playing their characters in live action. Kurapika looked the best - which you'd think would be odd, given that his seiyuu is female, but since it's Kurapika... nope, he looked about right. Gon looked a little odd, but that's probably the lack of hair more than anything.

The Zoaldyeck family is crazy, too. No wonder Killua never wants to go back home. I like the scene where Hisoka makes them all dance, though.

Ah, fun times.

I also read some more of the manga. The new storyline involves mutant killer ants. I'm not too impressed. I've taken to skimming through the ant scenes and just reading the stuff Killua and Gon are actually part of. Like chapters 217 and 218, which inspired me to write a very, very brief accounting of Gon's First Date (sort of?) in which Killua is obsessive and Gon is clueless. But I guess if you've read the manga, you know that already.

And poor Pokkoru... They finally bring him back in, and look what happens! Yeesh.
silverthunder: (Killua and Gon - Forever)
I worked yesterday. Other than that, not much was happening.

I did watch one of the Hunter X Hunter musicals, which was cheesy as expected. It was fun to watch, though. I'm such a geek.

It was fun that the kidnapped actor/actresses were all played by the people doing the main characters. I liked when they were arguing over which actress looked best.

Still working on the Hunter X Hunter 20 themes. I have some ideas, but since I'm trying to do them in order, it makes it a little harder. I suppose I shouldn't do it that way, but well, I don't get accused of being smart that often.

Heh. Ah well.

Working tonight as well. That should be fun. But it's just the usual five to nine shift, it's not like I can't handle it.
silverthunder: (Kaoru - Sparkle)
Well, I finished watching the last Hunter X Hunter OVA yesterday... It makes me sad that it's over, even though I still have the manga and the musicals to go through. It's just not quite the same.

Anyway, though, here are my thoughts on the OVAs.

Under here )

In other news, I started working on the Hunter X Hunter 20 Themes, which were posted on one of the LJ communities by someone who'd already done them. So far I've done 8, in a series of drabbles, double drabbles, and one drabble and a half. I'm hoping to get a full-sized fic out of at least one of the themes, but we'll have to see, I guess.

And now, I work. Evil work...

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence/paragraph/whatever from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

Okay, so I've watched through the 10 episodes that I've been told I have to at least get through before I decide anything about Prince of Tennis. (Although I kinda skipped episode 8 after skimming ahead to see who won)

And here are my impressions )
silverthunder: (Killua and Gon - Forever)
So I made icons last night. Originally it was only the one I used on the post I made at that time, but then it turned into more. I have three new ones now.

Excellent.

The radio show was pretty good yesterday... I didn't make as many little screw-ups. And it was fun, as usual. I enjoyed it.

I finished off the little bit I had left to read in Harry Potter. It was a good book. I'm not going to note anything in here about it, including any and all reactions to anything that happened. I know there's at least one person on my friends list who doesn't want to be spoiled, and I don't feel like writing anything large enough to even make an LJ cut worth it, so... no comments.

I didn't watch any more episodes of Prince of Tennis, but I *did* watch more of the Greed Island Final. I still have nine episodes of it left. I meant to watch more, but it just didn't happen. Heh.

Oh well. Next time.
silverthunder: (Killua - URGH)
This entry deserved a new icon.

Yurk! )

... I'd like to go back to thinking that this anime has no real yaoi now.
silverthunder: (Kurapika - My fandom has stripping)
The title of this song was so long it wouldn't fit into the 'Current Music' box. I shortened it considerably.

Anyway, I have watched three episodes so far of the GI Final OVA. It would be more, but I stepped over to the book store and picked up a copy of Harry Potter, which I then spent several hours reading. I did pause to sleep, though, so I guess I'm not a real fan.

Ah well. It's been a good read so far, as usual. I'm not very far from the end now. Excellent.

I watched an episode of Prince of Tennis yesterday too, and so far, it's okay. The main character bugs me a little, but I'm told he's better when he's with other characters? I guess I'll find out for myself when I see more.

I'm on the radio again today, it seems - meeting Anika at lunch today to plan that out. I forgot to find some news... crap. I may end up only having one thing to say during the little news break.

Ah well...
silverthunder: (Leorio and Kurapika - Lazy days)
It is Saturday, I do not have to work, and I have no plans. I'm going to do NOTHING today.

It's going to be glorious.

Not exactly nothing, though - I'll be watching anime, for the most part. I still have the Greed Island Final OVA, five episodes of Prince of Tennis on my computer, episode four of subtitled Digimon Tamers, Haibane Renmei, and if all else fails, I have a whole crapload of Kyou Kara Maou episodes that I just haven't watched yet. And I do plan to pick up Harry Potter some time today, assuming the book store has copies left by the time I get up there.

Yeah, I'm pretty much set.

I watched the first episode of GI Final today, and it was - surprise, surprise - no different from the first Greed Island OVA. They might as well have made them one big OVA series. Not that I really care, as long as I get to watch everything.

I like Bisquit, too. She's odd, but I think she might be my favorite female on the show. Not that that says much, but then again, I did like Senritsu, so... Heh.

I have a question for anyone who's seen all of the anime. Now that I've seen all of the opening and ending themes, I am very curious... Where exactly does THIS picture come from? Because it sure looks like something from an opening or ending sequence.
silverthunder: (Leorio and Kurapika - Lazy days)
I love how this icon came out. So pretty and lazy and perfect. I'm going to use this one a lot, I think. It's such a summer icon.

I heard this song at BP the night before last and couldn't remember what it was called. Heard it again last night, and wrote down the title. Then I downloaded it. Now I have it. Apparently it's a remake of a Roxette song and there's a techno version too, so I downloaded both of those as well.

And here's a character-interaction analysis thing I did a while ago, just for the hell of it.

Leorio and Kurapika )

This is post number three. Two more to go!
silverthunder: (Luna - Looking to the future)
I finished watching the Hunter X Hunter: Greed Island OVA. Gon and Killu are so cute. I cannot emphasize this enough. "I'm glad I met you." - "*I'm* the one who's glad I met you." I half expected Killua to say that last bit out loud and start up a fight over who was most glad he'd met the other. But no, he had to be all quiet and angsty and confused. And CUTE.

I'll enjoy the Greed Island Final OVA, when I get to watching it. Which might even be today. Or I might save it for the weekend, since I once again have Saturday and Sunday off.

I spent last night with V, which was excellent. We went for dinner and talked about building self confidence, and then went for a walk and talked about Europe. No definite plans, of course, since we're not planning it all out until next summer at least - just dreams at this point. The sky was cloudy but it wasn't too dark, and we visited the elementary school for a while to go on the swings.

It was a fantastic evening.
silverthunder: (Edward - Only human)
Watched two episodes of the Greed Island OVA. Leorio and Kurapika's goodbye was ANGSTY! Holy CRAP! As if Kurapika needed more angst... It seems more on Leorio's part, though.

Still. I wasn't really expecting that much veiled tragedy in a "see you later".

I also want to note that I hope Kuroro never comes back. Ever. Not that I hate him, but I want him to take his punishment. I don't care about the rest of the Genei Ryodan, but I don't want to see him again.

I guess I'm going to have to start paying attention to Gon and Killua now...
silverthunder: (Leorio and Kurapika - Waiting for a sign)
I didn't mess up *too* many times on the radio show yesterday, and overall, it turned out pretty okay. I guess I'd judge it a success.

I'm all caught up with Death Note now, too. I'm a little behind with Tsubasa Chronicle, actually, but I'll probably watch an episode or two of that today. I'm *very* behind with Kyou Kara Maou, but that's okay. At some point, I'll probably end up sitting down and just watching a bunch of episodes. And it takes a long time for episodes to come out, so it's good that I've got a large supply of them.

However, I do intend to watch at least one episode of the Greed Island OVA today, since I won't get to hang out with V. I have to work at four, but that's no big deal.

V and I went to see Howl's Moving Castle in theaters last night - that was fun. I enjoyed it more in English, surprisingly. They did a very nice job with the dub. And V really liked it, so it's all good.

Fun times for all. Excellent.
