Sep. 4th, 2008 10:48 amWell, I'm off to Vancouver today and when I get back, I should be getting my kitty! I don't know what I'm looking forward to more... going to the concert with my sisters tonight, or picking up my new kitten tomorrow. Both will be great!
In other news, I've been watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann with Cody, a show I thought I could never really get into, and damn, is it ever awesome! What a great story it has... holy crap. I wouldn't have expected it from a show that at first glance looks like mecha, fanservice, and goofy shit. And it is all of that. But seriously... wow. The characters and plot are excellent.
And the music is the most kickass I've ever heard in an anime series.

Why do I torture myself by reading the latest chapters of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle? I haven't read some of the ones before them and, more importantly, I know that it's not FINISHED yet!
Nothing makes any goddamn sense!!!! And even after I've read back on what's currently happening... OMG, WTF IS GOING ON???
Why do I have to wait until Sept 10 to get 20 more pages of what will probably be a whole lot more questions and plot twists? And happening in the PAST for Christ's sake! As if the present in that series wasn't confusing enough!
CLAMP makes my head hurt...

Anime Evolution 2008!
Aug. 27th, 2008 08:25 pmI'm back from Vancouver... man, that was a fun trip! And Cody didn't even get sick this time. Ty and Anika did, though, which wasn't too great. At least it seemed to be just a 24-hour flu... Also, Jeremy's car broke down at UBC at the end of the last day of Anime Evolution. Luckily, Cody and I were there with him and we were able to get the car towed and then repaired so that he could drive back to Kamloops without worry.
Other than that, it was a kickass trip.

And... that was pretty much our AE trip. I already can't wait for next year. I'm starting on the costumes right away!

Gaming Stuff
Jul. 27th, 2008 12:28 pmI've been working out on the Wii Fit (as well as sticking to my regular diet) for almost two weeks now. Thus far, I have lost about 3 pounds. Not bad at all for a half hour workout a day. And it's fun - I actually want to keep doing it. I have been full of energy almost all the time since I started, too. It's awesome.
I am also obsessed with my DS, which could also account for some of this weight loss (I forget to snack when I'm playing). At first I just played Harvest Moon DS Cute on it, but I found a game called Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard and got addicted to it as well.

The website done by the company (Atlus) is pretty nice too - a fancy flash site with pictures of the characters you can choose for each class and even a section with some cute comics featuring some of the things in the game. 404: Page Not Found
400: Bad Page Request
401: Not authorized to view
403: Forbidden
500: Internal Server Error
Pictures are from Digimon Tamers, Gundam Wing, Weiss Kreuz, Orphen, and Uninhabited Planet Survive. Hopefully these pages won't come up much, but I had some fun making them, so... I thought I'd show them off.

Second, most people on my friends list probably already know this, but... new season of Slayers! This means Cody plans to make me watch what I haven't seen yet of the first three seasons. Can't say I mind. The opening and ending of Slayers Revolution can be watched here
Third, Tales of the Abyss, the game I keep trying to get Cody to go back to (he bounces around on his current games like crazy) so I can see what happens, is being made into a 26-episode anime! No trailer or opening theme out yet, but for those who don't know much about it, the game opening can be watched here.
I'm exhausted. The last few days have been really stressful. Last night I woke up with what I think was a minor panic attack, convinced that I had a million things that had to be done but I was running out of time and felt like I was going to collapse. It sucked, and it scared Cody. Good thing I have two days off now; I think I need it.
In other news, I picked up the first volume of Time Stranger Kyoko, by the mangaka who did Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne. Looks like it could be fun.
I still have lots of anime to watch... Maybe I'll get to some of it today.

I just changed the DNS settings on my domain name, so it won't be visible for 24-48 hours but that's okay because all I'm planning to put up is a placeholder page. I'll be doing a bit of a redesign - I don't really like the side frame on the page I have now, and I'm kind of sick of the blue color too. I have a couple of ideas in mind for changes.
It shouldn't take me too long, though; maybe I'll even be done by the time the site is visible. I'm not sure if anyone actually missed it, but I'll feel better when my fanfic and stories are back up in one place where people can find and read them if they want.
Plus, I have to get the UPS screenshot site back up. I don't think many people visit it, but it was one of the few UPS resources online so I'd like to keep it up.

In other news, I bought a box set of Fruits Basket, and I'm in the process of rewatching it. I love that series. I love it even more now that I've read the end of the manga. Hehe.
I also have my box set of Escaflowne and have been watching that. Now that is a good series! I think the fact that it lost 13 episodes and had to squeeze the story into the rest worked in its favor. Each episode moves so quickly! I love it.
I also watched the first episode of Tactics. I'm not sure if I like it yet. I'll have to give it a couple more episodes and see.
Also, Cody and I bought a new sound system. We're working on trying to get it set up. Apparently we need to buy an additional cable. Hopefully we can get it working tonight after work.

May. 3rd, 2008 06:28 amI saw Ironman last night with Cody and Tylor and Sarah. Speaking as someone who has never heard of the comic until the movie came out, I can honestly say that it was an entertaining watch. Totally testosterone-fueled and similar to nearly every action movie on the face of the planet in that no female character really did anything of note or managed to be anything beyond a support character. But still pretty decent.
I thought I was working 8-4 today but I was working 6:30 - 2:30. I would've got six hours of sleep last night but I kept waking up with stomach pains because I was full before I went to bed and it hadn't digested at all. At 2:30am I was up for an hour to walk it off.
Consequently, I feel like I haven't slept at all. This is going to be a fun shift...
